From Waikato Stadium mud to two flags

I remember standing on the grass bank at the old Waikato Stadium in 2012, mud up to your knees, watching that pack maul the Reds into next week. Back in the day you got soaked through and thought nothing of it, and when the final whistle went in that first final I reckon half of Hamilton was crying into their beers 😄 Then to back it up in 2013, back-to-back, well. The young lot never saw how hard the amateur days made you wait for something like that. Two flags in the first two years of the franchise era still feels like a dream some nights. Being a Chief to me means turning up rain or shine and roaring your lungs out with fifty thousand of your own. ah well, we'll see what the next chapter brings 😉

Man those winters in Hamilton were insane 🔥 I remember being there for the 2013 run too, just stood along the fence and the noise was unreal. Thought my ears were gonna fall off after that final whistle, absolute goosebumps for sure 🙌 Just what proper rugby is all about, innit.
    You don't abandon your own.

  • Those 2012/13 sides had a forward pack you could build a church on. Current lot have more flash, less grind. I could be wrong, but I'd back the old boys in the mud every time. 📊

  • Hope I wasn't the one who slipped in the mud trying to get a better view, but the memories are gold, mate. 🤣😂
    Memes are analysis too.
