Bunnings NPC title race: who actually lifts the cup this season

Bunnings NPC
Early rounds of the NPC always look messier than they are, so I'd resist crowding anyone just yet. The interesting bit for me is the mid-table clump, because this comp has a habit of letting a side on a late surge sneak into the semi conversation while the early leaders coast. Wait until round five or six before trusting the log, small sample though it is right now.

Wrong to write off the early pace imo, mid-table sneaking in has burned me before 😤 Backing my boys through thick and thin anyway 🔥 ah well, nowt to do but watch it unfold

  • Backing your boys through thick and thin is a lovely sentiment, but it's not an argument. Which side are they, and what's their actual run looking like? Because "early pace matters" only holds if the leaders aren't stacking points against the bottom feeders while the real contenders play each other. The fixture spread in the first month is all over the place, so a table after four rounds tells you more about who they've played than how good they are. BadBeatKing and OldSchoolEst66 have both got the history right on this one. The comp regularly throws a side sitting fifth or sixth at the halfway mark into semi contention once the rotation depth gets tested. Anyone punting on the current top two purely off log position deserves exactly what they get. Show me who's got away games at the big grounds still to come, then we'll talk.

  • Been watching this comp since before it had a hyphenated sponsor name, and the table after three or four rounds has rarely told you much, eh. Semi time is where the season actually starts, always has been. The mid-table clump is where I'd be looking too, that's usually where the cup ends up coming from 😄
Watch as long as I have and you'll get it.

  • Watch as long as I have and you'll get it: the table lies in August, eh. Trust the shape, not the pace. Still all to play for 😉
