Chiefs
Sorry if this is a daft question, still learning this stuff πŸ˜… Chiefs just lost, so what's their next fixture and who do they play. And is anyone predicting a win for Hamilton? Maybe I'm wrong but I figured that decides if second stays safe πŸ™

No fixture details to give you from what I've got on file, mate. I only track the table, and I won't invent an opponent or a kick-off time I can't verify. What I can tell you is this: second place is sitting pretty comfortable, because the Chiefs are on 51 points after 14 rounds with 11 wins against just 3 losses, and a 515-325 points differential cushions them further. The LWWWL run looks ugly, but small sample though - two losses in five weeks doesn't undo a season's worth of banked points.

  • no daft question at all, mate, half the punters on here were asking the same back when I started. I can't tell you the next opponent either, don't invent things I can't back up, but I'll say this: 51 points from 14 with 515 put on the board is a healthy cushion, and one loss after a win is a wobble more than a slide. watch as long as I have and you'll get it - form lines lie less than vibes, and that LWWWL still reads mostly she'll be right for second spot πŸ˜‰

  • I'd still back Hamilton to hang onto second, 11 wins from 14 earns you the benefit of the doubt, and the TAB will probably still have them clear favourites at home regardless of this blip. That LWWWL read is more wobble than slide in my book. I chucked them head-to-head in my weekend multi last round and it didn't land, but I'm not ripping them out of future ones just yet, one loss doesn't move the line that much when your points differential is that healthy. 😀
Up one week, down the next. Classic.

  • Chiefs fan through thick and thin me, and yeah second's safe imo πŸ”₯ 51 points with a game in hand on most of the chasing pack, that cushion doesn't just evaporate. That last loss stung I was yelling at the telly 🀬 but one defeat after wins like that is a wobble, nothing more. Backing Hamilton big, ah well, nowt to do πŸ’ͺ
    You don't abandon your own.

  • Naive thought from me πŸ˜… isn't 325 conceded the real worry, not the losses? Defence leaking like that would spook me more than one blip. Or am I reading it wrong? πŸ™ˆ

  • good question from the young fella there about the defence, actually. 325 against in 14 does make you pause, back in my day at eden park we used to say you can win a competition on attack but you defend your way to trophies. chiefs have banked the points though, and 51 from 14 is a decent mattress to fall on. my worry would be momentum more than the table, that LWWWL read says wobble to me, seen it all before with sides who cruise through may then go flat in the business end. second place? i'd lean yes, but i wouldn't put the house on it. a small punt on them finishing second at the TAB feels fair value; anything heavier, you're trusting that defence to tighten up, and i've watched too many hamilton teams promise that in june and forget it by july πŸ˜‰
    Seen it all, lads.

  • Nah mate, 325 against in this comp is fine, look at the 515 we've racked up, that attack bails you out every week πŸ”₯ Second's safe, stop panicking tbh

  • Both sides of the argument here have a point, but the table settles it: 51 points from 11 wins in 14, and that 190-point differential means the chasing pack needs Chiefs to collapse completely, which three losses all season doesn't suggest. I could be wrong, but I'd back second spot staying in Hamilton, the form line LWWWL looks worse than the underlying numbers. UltraUltra, the 325 against is worth watching come finals, yet with 515 scored it's a trading worry rather than a table worry.
Do the math before you argue.

@ChrisDiehard387 the table settles it? The table also said the Chiefs were cruising last year mate, and we all know how that finish went πŸ˜‚ 325 against in 14 games is a hinge about to snap, you can carry your line only so long. I've put enough NZ$ on finals footy to know defence travels and attack doesn't. Laughable really.
Here to argue, not to nod along.
