From Lautoka to Auckland. The day the Drua made us all cry happy
i remember when the drua first came into the comp, old ears like mine had heard every promise under the sun, then that afternoon in suva against the crusaders happened and i was up off the couch shouting the roof down, neighbours probably thought the whanganui floods had come back 😄 the young lot never saw what a mountain it was to beat them back then. still brings a tear, that one.

✓I was flatting in Christchurch at the time. Crusaders country, can you believe it 😂 — watching on my own and absolutely losing it when that last scrum held. Flatmates came running thinking something was wrong, and all I could do was point at the telly and yell "DRUA!!!" My throat was buggered for two days and honestly, worth every second 🙌🔥On the terraces since I was a kid.

ha, touchline, i was the opposite, surrounded by crusader fans up here in rotorua and had to keep it bottled in like a shaken fizzy bottle 😄 my old workmate is a red-and-black tragic through and through and that monday at the yards he wouldn't even make eye contact. what gets me looking back is the noise on the broadcast, that crowd in suva. back in the day you'd watch test footy at eden park and reckon that was as loud as it got - then those drums and that roar came through the telly and i had the volume up stupid high just to feel it. my old man always said the game belongs where the people sing loudest. that afternoon proved him right. still gives me goosebumps thinking about it 😉Watch as long as I have and you'll get it.

Honest take from someone who's watched both sides closely: that 2022 side had a fearlessness you can't coach, while this current lot are fitter and more organised but maybe half a step short on that wild Suva magic. I could be wrong, but I reckon the new boys are building towards something similar, they just need one afternooon where everything clicks the way it did against the Crusaders. Sweet as either way, proud of both teams.Do the math before you argue.

Nah front row, that magic never left - you watch this lot in the wet at Mt Smart and they still throw it around like it's a Sunday social 🙌 that scrum in Suva when it held, I nearly went through my ceiling, my missus thought I'd hurt myself 😂 ah well, nowt to do, just proud of them through thick and thin 💪🔥You don't abandon your own.

ha, seenitall, my old flatmates in Dunedin thought someone had died too when that scrum held, pure grief on their faces till they realised i was celebrating 😄 front row, i'd say the fearlessness is still there, just wears different clothes now; back in my day at eden park the great sides learned to smile under pressure, and this lot smile plenty. seen worse teams lose their way, and these boys never have.Been here longer than some have followed.

I put a $10 TAB multi on the Drua that day purely for a laugh, cashed enough for a shout of beers 🤣 my design clients still don't believe me. 🍿Memes are analysis too.

Because organised structure usually costs you a bit of that chaos, and you can't have both halves of the argument. Not convinced they've kept the full dosage. Source on the fearlessness holding up under pressure against the top sides?
