From Larkham's drop goal in '99 to tonight
i remember that night like it was yesterday, sitting up way past a sensible hour watching the '99 final, and when larkham lined up that droppie from 42 metres i nearly woke the whole street. everyone remembers mortlock's try but for me it was stephen, cool as anything, old school in the best way. every canberra kid learns about that kick before they learn their times tables and honestly i reckon that's the right order 😄
ah, the colours never change do they. seen worse seasons than this one too. ah well, we'll see what the rest of the year brings.

✓42 METRES 😳 and my old man made me watch that final on his crusty old DVD years back, sat there thinking no way he drops that, then he DID 🔥🥇 reckon every kid round here grows up on that moment too, mate. class is class, ah well, nowt to do but love it 💙On the terraces since I was a kid.

funny thing about that night, i'd gone to a mate's place in newtown to watch it and we ran out of beer at halftime, so he sent me up the road for more and i missed half of extra time standing in a queue at the servo. heard the roar from the street before i even got back through the door. still don't know how i talked him into telling me what happened slowly 😄 the thing i remember most is how calm larkham looked, no drama, just a man doing his job. watch as long as i have and you'll get it - those quiet moments stick harder than the flashy ones. good thread this, warm the cockles it does 😉Seen it all, trust me.

@FanaticTillIDie that's rough, missing a moment like that for a servo run. My own confession from that era, I only caught the second half of the final because my old man had me at junior training that morning and the tape ran late. I could be wrong, but I reckon half the readers here have a story where life conspired against them at the worst minute. 📊Do the math before you argue.
