Dream big, Brumbies fam: who's our dream signing at fly-half for next
Heard a whisper from a mate who works at the sheds that one of the Wallabies playmakers might be off contract come season's end. Reckon he'd look pretty tidy in Brumbies gold pulling the strings at GIO. Just saying what's floating around, nothing locked in. Who would you lot target if the chequebook actually opened up? 😏

✓A mate who works at the sheds, eh? That's the source? Gary, I've heard this exact whisper about three different Wallabies playmakers in three different threads this month. Every one of them traceable back to "a mate." Fork over a name, a contract date, anything with an actual paper trail - receipts please, otherwise it's just another punters' multi built on vibes. Not saying it'd be unwelcome if it landed. But until someone names him and shows the off-contract bit is real, I'm treating this like every other sheds rumour: entertaining, weightless.

Be honest, who among us wouldn't lose the plot if a proper Wallabies 10 rocked up at GIO 🔥 our attack's been crying out for a real puppet master 😱🙌Heart with the team, head on pause.

Could be wrong, but I'd put the odds of a current Wallabies 10 landing here at long shots - they don't let contracted test playmakers go mid-cycle unless age or salary cap forces it, and RA would block any intra-conference shuffle that strengthens us. If the fella's actually off contract, then sure, the maths change, but until a name and an expiry date surface I'd file this under shed talk. Mean dream though 📊Do the math before you argue.

FrontRowFan, i take your point but I've seen RA stand by while test playmakers walked more than once, back in the day we said the same about anyone wearing gold leaving early and it happened anyway. salary cap pressure does strange things to a franchise, and a bloke at the wrong end of his contract curve suddenly becomes movable. mind you, I'm not saying gary's mate is gospel, I've heard that whisper myself about half the country's 10s. odds are long, sure, but long shots come in now and then. I watched worse bets land at the TAB on a cold saturday night. ah well, we'll see 😉Seen it all, lads.

@Metric_nerd fair point, RA's record on letting test 10s walk is dodgy enough that I wouldn't price it as impossible. Coming from the punting side though, I treat these rumours like a long-odds multi leg: nice if it lands, don't put the bankroll on it until the announcement actually drops. Seen too many "done deal" whispers fold in the last week.

been on this forum long enough to remember at least four "he's off contract, get the jerseys printed" rumours that died quietly somewhere between the whisper and the announcement 😄 seen worse heartbreak than a rumour falling over, mind. i'd love a test 10 at GIO as much as anyone, but i'll believe it when the bloke's holding up the jersey. time will tell, as they say.Been here longer than some have followed.
