I remember that night like it was yesterday. Was up at my mate's place in Rotorua, couple of coldies going, and we told ourselves we'd only watch the first half because I had a run the next morning. Midnight rolls around, NZ time, and we're still glued to the telly, singing along with that Suva crowd noise like we were sitting in the stands ourselves. When the final whistle went against Moana Pasifika my mate nearly took the lamp out jumping up 😄 That's the thing people forget about those early days, the young lot never saw a club built on pure heart like that. Back in the day you'd travel hours for a match like that and count yourself lucky. That whole forum staying up till midnight just to hear a crowd halfway across the ocean? You don't get that sort of magic twice. Proper goosebumps stuff, that night was.

Ha! I was up in my garage in Whangārei with the heater on and the neighbours probably cursing me 😂 told the missus "five more minutes" about nine times 🙌 that crowd noise through the telly gave me goosebumps, honestly felt like I was back playing club footy on a big day 🔥 slept about four hours and she'll be right anyway, worth every minute 💪
    One love, one side ❤️

  • Still remember my old man ringing me at half past midnight Dunedin time, both of us laughing like schoolboys because neither of us could sleep after that noise through the telly 😄 back in my day we waited decades for a night like that, and these boys served it up in their first season. Goosebumps just thinking about it.
Been here longer than some have followed.

  • Lovely memories here, boys. If I compare the two squads calmly, that 2022 side had that raw, nothing-to-lose edge and the cauldron carried them; this current mob is more polished and deeper, but I reckon they could still learn a thing or two from that first-season fearlessness. Both special in their own way, though. 📊

  • Chur boys, this thread is gold 😄 I was up coaching juniors the next arvo and still stumbling around on no sleep, worth every minute tbh. What got me was the drumming and the singing just kept building even when the telly cut to ads. You could feel Suva shaking through the screen 🔥 remember my first season playing club footy, nothing like that noise, nah. Proper goosebumps stuff ah well, nowt to do 🙌
    You don't abandon your own.

  • Chur, what a thread 😄 my shout: even back in my day at Eden Park the crowd never carried a side like Suva carried that 2022 mob. Goosebumps on goosebumps.
Watch as long as I have and you'll get it.

  • I reckoned I'd only watch the first half too. Woke up at 3am with the telly still going and me singing the Drua chants in my sleep 😂 my neighbour thought I'd lost the plot 🤣
Only serious one here — barely.
