Fiji and Italy are stuck on zero after three rounds

Interesting wee quirk in the table already, three rounds in. Up top you've got the Springboks and the All Blacks both sitting on 15 from three, with France on 12 and Scotland on 11 just hanging about. Two teams locked at the summit is proper pressure rugby, every bonus point matters from here. Down the other end, the gap between hope and disaster is only 4 points. Japan have that small cushion but they're not safe by any stretch, because Fiji and Italy are both stuck on zero after three games and neither looks like they've clicked yet. Someone has to actually win a match soon or the relegation question gets settled by default, which would be a sorry way for any of them to go. My early lean is Japan's 4 points hold up, purely because asking either Fiji or Italy to string wins together from nothing is a big ask at this level. Happy to be proven wrong though.

  • Locked on 15 means nothing three rounds in, the run home decides it. Any punter backing a champion off the table now deserves to lose their TAB stake.

  • Seen this before, two teams locked on 15 usually gets sorted in the last round when someone blinks.Ah well, we'll see.

  • some of you are writing the season off already and the table's only just warmed up 😄 the top end, fair enough, two teams on 15 is a genuine tussle and every bonus point from here matters, that part I believe. but down the bottom, that's where the real pain sits. fiji and italy on nothing after three games, japan sneaking by on 4. my money says italy stay stuck, they've looked like a side waiting for the whistle more than playing. fiji have enough fire in them to sneak a win somewhere before the end, always have had. so japan go down with italy, that's my tip, and i'd not put a cent of my TAB money against it. then again, watch as long as I have and you'll get it, tables lie more often than they tell the truth. seen worse starts turn into fine seasons. we'll know by the last round who blinked 😉
    Seen it all, trust me.
