After watching the Turbos hang 40 on Auckland at Eden Park's little brother, I checked the TAB the same night. Canterbury are still favoured but the line has already moved a couple of points toward Manawatu - that Auckland win did the damage. 💸 My read: value's on the Turbos with the start, not the head-to-head at short odds. 3 October under lights at Central Energy Trust Arena, crowd on their back, and a defence that's leaked 34 and 36 in two of the last three, so take the over on total points too, both these sides concede in bunches. Won NZ$80 off the odd-try scorer leg last weekend, so I'll roll the multi again with Manawatu +the line as the anchor. If Canterbury's forwards dominate like they can, didn't land, lesson banked — but at this price I'm on. 🍺Up one week, down the next. Classic.

Saw a Turbos side go down to Eden Park once and get thrashed, then turn up the next week and pinch a game nobody gave them a hope in, footy's funny like that. Back in the day you'd judge a season by round six, and every year round six lied to you 😄 Gramps and LeeLegend are right to keep their NZ$ warm, though. One mad night in Auckland doesn't erase what Waikato did to them, and Canterbury have been seeing off hopefuls at this level since before some of our lot were born. Expectations deceive more often than they reward. Seen it too many times. But if the forwards front up early at the Arena like they did against Taranaki, could be the biggest afternoon there in years. Or a quiet lesson.
