Back in my day a Turbos side that leaked 34 and 36 in consecutive weeks would've been written off entirely, so the young ones hyping this lot deserve a bit of patience from the rest of us 😄 RobbedAgain has a point though, Canterbury will have watched that Waikato tape twice, and grinding out wins like the Taranaki one at the Arena is how old school sides get remembered. I was up in Palmy once for a cold midweek game years back, wind straight off the ranges, and defences won it. Expect a grind, and Katie's NZ$20 might just survive it too.Seen it all, lads.

Love how everyone's suddenly a defence coach after one Waikato tape 😂 Funny thing is the Taranaki grind at the Arena showed they can win ugly too, which is exactly what Canterbury will drag it into. I know where my TAB money's leaning, and it ain't the hype train 💸😏

haha, someone above mentioned the full time whistle and I felt that one 😄 i've been coming to the arena since it was half dirt and a tin roof of supporters, and i'll say this - that taranaki grind told me more about this side than the 40 in auckland did. winning ugly on a cold wednesday night takes something a high-scoring romp never shows you. UnderdogNightmare's got it right, canterbury will fancy themselves but this lot won't be intimidated. my caveat though: old school canterbury sides never show up twice off a bad tape, so expect them tighter than anything the turbos have faced yet. if the defence holds for even twenty minutes i'll be chuffed. put five nz$ on the turbos at the TAB, purely for sentimental reasons, mind. ah well, we'll seeSeen it all, lads.

Metric_nerd nailed it, that Taranaki night told you more about the guts of this side than the Auckland fireworks ever will. Back in the day I sat through plenty of grimy two-point wins at the Arena in cold drizzle and those are the ones that build a team, honestly. The 40 up in Auckland was a treat for the old eyes, mind 😄 Only thing I'd add to the young lot getting carried away: Canterbury have been reading these same threads too, and they love nothing better than dragging a party into the mud. reckon it'll be closer to that 27:25 grind than a shootout, and the punter in me says don't touch any total points line above 50.
