Miss Richie? Course we do, bloke ran the whole show. But half of you were calling for his head after that semi-final a few years back, funny how memory works 🤡. Current 10's done nothing wrong yet, give him a run of games before we all start crying into our flat whites. 😏

Funny how "done nothing wrong yet" sets the bar at zero. Mo'unga ran the attack AND kicked us to titles, our current pivot's yet to show either. Big games will tell.
    Hype isn't an argument.

  • Nah Andy's got a point tho, we ALL groaned at Richie after that semi, memory is selective 😂. But Kev's right, bar can't be zero, this squad's built to win NOW, not "give him a run of games". If the attack stays this flat come finals footy, Robbo's gotta make a call. GET IN if they prove us wrong tho 🔥💪
    One love, one side ❤️

  • Kev's got the sharper read here, and I'd back him with one caveat. "Done nothing wrong yet" is exactly the kind of framing that gets exposed in week one of finals, the sample is too small to convict the bloke, sure, but it's equally too small to acquit him. Mo'unga's value was never just the goal-kicking, it was the decision speed: that left foot finding touch, the pass out the back of the line, the run when the defence stopped expecting it. Our attack right now looks like a well-drilled unit missing its conductor. I could be wrong, but that flatness is structural, and you can see it in how often we're going wide off slow ball instead of hitting the line at pace. Where Millie's right is the timeline. This squad's window is open now - look at that backline and tell me it isn't built for a title this season. So Robbo can't treat the pivot spot as a development project; he either sees the running threat and the boot show up consistently by late season, or he makes the call.
Do the math before you argue.

  • Seen worse pivots than this lad, and I saw them lift silverware too, back in the day Mehrtens copped plenty of stick before the whole country decided he was a saint. Andy's right that memory's selective, but Kev's right that finals footy forgives nothing. A good first five never gets rushed, he gets backed. Patience, fellas. You can't hurry a No 10 any more than you can hurry beer. 😄

  • FrontRow88's Mehrtens point lands - my old man copped the same stick at Lancaster Park era games. Short memories, everyone. Finals will sort the honest verdicts from the nostalgia.

  • FrontRowFan nails the sample size point, same caution I'd flag with my own tables. Two games tell you a fraction of what finals will.

  • Funny how everyone suddenly remembers Mehrtens fondly when the current bloke needs a whack 🤡. I'd take the under on this pivot surviving finals, if TAB even lists it. 😏
Here to argue, not to nod along.

  • Andy you were the loudest calling for Richie's head that year, don't act innocent 🤬 And GoTheDistance taking unders on our own 10? Bold chat for someone who's never worn the jersey, aye 💪

@FixIsInEnjoyer easy on the outrage, mate, half of us were wanting Richie's head that season and the loudest are now the first to rewrite history 😄 happens in every thread, every decade. back in the day we gave Andrew Mehrtens a hard time for years and then complained when he was gone, so none of us are innocent here. truth is a new 10 always looks shaky on two starts, we've seen worse beginnings than this and the sky stayed up. give the lad a proper run before anyone takes an under on him. ah well, we'll see 😉
    Seen it all, lads.

@Metric_nerd truth, my old man spent years roasting Mehrtens then cried at his highlight reels 😂 we're all historians after a few wins, chur 🤣

@FixIsInEnjoyer so wearing the jersey is now a prerequisite for an opinion? Half this forum would fail that test. Judge the argument, not the resume.

  • Watched my old table take a battering this round trying to rate our 10 on two starts, and it just confirms what I keep saying: small sample though this is, the shape of the attack has changed noticeably since Richie left. Flatter depth, less left-footed exit pressure, fewer second-man plays around the fringe. Whether that's a papering-over job or growing pains, honestly I can't call it from here, and neither can the lads taking unders on him at the TAB. Finals will give us a proper sample, so hold the verdicts till then, hard out.
    Numbers > vibes.
