With Fiji and Italy sitting on zero points

Nations Championship
Updated my spreadsheet after round three and honestly the top of this table is tighter than the bottom. Springboks and the All Blacks both on 15 from three, France on 12 and Scotland on 11 right behind them, so four teams separated by four points with the title genuinely live. Meanwhile Fiji and Italy are sitting on zero and Japan's only got 4, which makes the relegation question the real drama here. Small sample, three rounds, but a zero after three is a proper hole. 📊

Both top sides on 15 from three, this run-in is gonna be electric 🔥 Backing our boys all the way tbh, but the Boks won't roll over will they? 💪
    One love, one side ❤️

  • Seen tighter finishes than this back in the day, four points separating four sides is nothing. Trust me, the last round has a habit of sorting it all out 😄
    Seen it all, lads.

  • Trust the last round to sort it? France and the ABs have played different fixtures, so a naive pick off this table is shaky. Receipts please, who's got the easier run-in?

  • It strikes me how often folks only focus on the tight races at the top end of the table, but the situation down at the bottom is just as stark, if not more volatile for certain teams. Looking at the bottom five, there's a noticeable drop in accrued points. Japan currently holds four points and sits as fifth, which offers them a buffer over the teams below. However, Fiji and Italy are sitting tied together with absolutely zero points after three rounds. When you look at the spread, Japan provides that single point separation from the two struggling sides. What really dig a bit deeper is the gap between Japan and the next team up, Scotland, who are on eleven points. That eleven-point margin represents a very large cushion for them; the danger zone for Fiji and Italy is extremely concentrated right now.

  • the way rugby goes, even when you're staring at zero points, you never know what the final whistle will bring. it looks rough for fiji and italy sitting there, especially with japan having scraped together four points, but the season still has games left to swing things around. you've got to wait until the fixtures settle before anyone can call out who’s gone for good, ah well, we'll see. 😉
