Josh mate, I coached juniors through years where we got pumped every Saturday and still turned up 🤬 that 66 at Christchurch was rotten but home soil changes everything, crowd gets behind them early and suddenly the shoulders square up. 27 September I'm in the gates before they open, through thick and thin WE roar 💪🔥

Fair call Ultra 😅 but that Northland game the boys looked like they'd already conceded the season before kickoff - different thing entirely to a fired-up day. Did my knee in in a club semi once and still played on cause the crowd got me up, you just know it counts if the attitude's right 🔥 I'll be there on the 27th roaring anyway, ah well, nowt to do but back them 💪You don't abandon your own.

What made Northland different was we got ambushed at home and folded 😱 52 points, I still can't watch the highlights tbh. Canterbury away was brutal too but at least we kept swinging, 19:66 hurts but there was fight in bits. The 27th is different because it's the first chance to answer back with our own crowd on us, and Waikato will bring it proper, like a derby feel almost. If the boys front up physically from the first scrum we're right in it 💪 If they go flat again like Gramps said, then yeah, hope's all we've got 🤬 Either way I'll be there roaring, through thick and thin. Grey afternoon in Invercargill and I'm sitting here chuckling at how hopeful everyone sounded before Northland too 😄 been watching this game since the amateur days, and the one thing I've learned is that form and expectation are strangers to each other. Back in the day we'd write off a side after three floggings and they'd turn up the next week looking like world beaters. 19:66 in Christchurch was ugly, but a few of the old boys I talk to reckoned there were patches where the boys kept having a go. Waikato at Hnry on the 27th could be anything, honestly. A packed house, a bit of fire, and suddenly the season looks different. Or we get another long afternoon and everyone's talking about Taranaki away like a funeral. Seen worse sides bounce back, and seen better ones fold. Ah well, we'll seeSeen it all, lads.
