Unpopular take: Fiji aren't the worst side in this Nations
Strange one at the top this round, with the Springboks and the All Blacks both sitting on 15 from 3 and France right there on 12, so the title race is tighter than the ladder suggests. The gap down to Scotland on 11 is basically one result. Then it falls off a cliff, Japan clinging to 4 points while Fiji and Italy are both on zero, and honestly that bottom trio is where the real season gets decided. I've got Fiji and Italy marginally better than their points in my spreadsheet, though three rounds is a small sample.

One result swings the lot, sure, but that cuts both ways down the bottom too. Japan on 4 from 3 looks safe until you check who's played who, and Italy's zero blank isn't panic yet, the draw's done them no favours. I'd wait a couple more rounds before crowning anyone or burying anyone, mate.

Retro, I could be wrong, but I rate Italy's blank worse than Fiji's because a zero from three with no bonus points means they weren't even close in any of them, and that gap to Japan on 4 is two full results with only rounds left to burn. Fiji at least pick up losing bonuses when they turn up. One win for Japan and either of those two is chasing shadows the rest of the way.Do the math before you argue.

Took the relegation markets for a punt last night and Italy at the drop is where the TAB's money clearly is, that zero from three with no bonus tells you they weren't in any of them. Fiji I'd back to pinch a result and climb off 0. At the top I'll take the All Blacks on 15 to get it done, France on 12 needing a slip somewhere.Bankroll discipline wins.

Funny how one zero from three means different things to different blokes, eh. I'd back the read that Italy's blank with no bonus points is the uglier sign than Fiji's, and Chris has a point that Japan's 4 points is two results of breathing room, no more. But I've seen plenty of seasons where round three told everyone sweet nothing, so I'm keeping my powder dry. Ah well, we'll see.Seen it all, lads.
