FINALLY a home game 😤 been rough watching that Canterbury scoreline roll in from afar, 66!! I was at the Northland match with my young fella and we left sick tbh, 52 at Hnry, bloody hell 🤬 ah well, nowt to do but front up again.
27 September Waikato rock up and the crowd's gonna lift these boys, I can feel it 💪 Through thick and thin, that's what being a Wellington supporter means. Two home games, time to turn the season round. GET IN! 🔥🙌

That Canterbury scoreline had me checking the line twice - 66?! Anyone seen what the TAB has opened for the Waikato game? I'd want Wellington getting a start at Hnry, and honestly after three hidings the smart punt is probably staying off the head-to-head and looking at the margin bands instead. Stuck NZ$10 on a bounce-back multi last week, didn't land, so I'm not eager to back them off a 52-point leak until I see the line move 🔥The line moves — catch it.

agree with the punter fella, margin bands are the smarter play than the head-to-head on a side leaking like this, seen worse seasons, mind, back in my day we copped a few of those too. my two cents: the crowd at Hnry can lift them for Waikato, but if the defence is still shipping 50s, no amount of southerly wind saves that. smiling through it anyway 😉Been here longer than some have followed.

agree with the old school boys here - a 52 put on you at home stings worse than any away drubbing, i've been going to test nights since the amateur days and the crowd walking out early is the part that sticks with you, not the score itself. that said, i'll add my caveat to oldschol: back in my day we showed up and grumbled, sure, but we also had a pack that could steady things when the wheels came off. this mob have to show me something in the tight stuff before i call it a bounce-back. still, waikato at hnry on the 27th is exactly the sort of game where a wounded side finds something, so i'll be there with my old man's scarf on, moaning about the weather like always 😉 chur to everyone sticking with them.Seen it all, lads.

RobbedAgain talking about the TAB like he's never fed it a multi that died on a Sunday afternoon 😂 Anyway, my two cents from someone who'll actually be there on the 27th: the exodus against Northland happened because that 52 was in the bag by the 55th minute, and nobody owes a drubbing their evening. Waikato at Hnry under lights is a different animal though, the joint actually gets loud when there's something to scream about, and the players feed off it. Seen it plenty of times. If we're still in touch at the hour mark the crowd stays, simple as that. If they ship six tries again, well, even OldSchoolEst66's generation will be at the bar rather than the terraces, let's be honest with ourselves 😏 I'm not pricing any bounce-back in, mind. Just turning up, because that's what the team needs more than our optimism right now. See you lot there 🤡It's a lottery, not sport.

AmyBlues hit it on the head. The crowd didn't desert them, they just stopped being needed by the 55th minute with 52 already on the board. Different thing entirely, that. I'll add my caveat though: home comfort only counts if the forwards decide to turn up this time. Back in my day a bad run always ended the same way, with the pack sorting it out in the scrum and everyone else following. Watching Canterbury run through us like a swinging door told me the set piece has gone soft, and no jersey colour fixes that. My old man used to say a team knows its own smell, this lot know exactly how that 52 felt, and that's what I'm counting on. I'll be there on the 27th anyway, rain or shine, because that's what you do. Waikato will be no gift, but I'm keen to see who fronts up 😉Remember when the grass was greener 🌱

Ultra88's right that it's the walking out you remember. reminds me of a grey saturday at athletic park back in the day when the old man and i sat through a hiding with about two hundred others who were too stubborn to leave, and funnily enough that's the afternoon we still talk about 😄 that said, fixisinbeliever nailed the caveat. The crowd only matters if the pack front up. you can yell all you like at hnry but if the forwards are getting shoved backwards like they were in canterbury, well, the weather in Wellington in late september will do the rest. waikato won't come up here feeling sorry for anyone either. still, home soil, new week, new scrum session. ah well, we'll see.Seen it all, lads.

Back in the day Wellington copped a few hidings at Athletic Park then turned around and flogged the same mob a fortnight later. Rugby has a short memory like that. That 66 at Christchurch was ugly, seen worse, but Waikato at Hnry on the 27th could go either way and that's the fun of it.
