Taranaki
FINALLY the 4th of October is nearly here and I've had this one circled since the draw dropped 🔥 55:19 then 28:12 at home, our lot are absolutely flying at Stadium Taranaki right now and New Plymouth is gonna erupt again, you just know it. Wellie coming to town, full house, can't wait 😤 ah well, nowt to do but count the days.

Manawatu loss still stings ngl 😱 but that Auckland hiding was serious 🔥 Wellington coming to a ground where we've put 80+ points on visitors... 4th Oct, make it loud 💪

Heart with the team, head on pause.

  • Anyone know what the TAB line's opened at? I'd back Taranaki minus whatever they give at Stadium Taranaki, form's too good 💸
    Bankroll discipline wins.

  • I've already warned my liver the 4th of October is happening 🤣 Between the footy and whatever StatHeadnerd's throwing on the TAB, gonna be a fun night in New Plymouth.
Came to laugh, stayed for life 🍿

  • since day one, your liver and mine should have a chat 😄 good bloke. Wellington at home on the 4th, i'll be there or be square. My old man took me to bledisloe nights at eden park in the amateur days and a packed ground on a spring evening in new plymouth gives me the same itch. i'd agree with the sentiment here, that auckland win was proper stuff, but a word of caution from someone who's watched long enough: one-point losses like manawatu happen to the best of them, and Wellington travel with a bit of bite. seen worse sides than this taranaki pack get turned over on the road, mind. form's real, crowd will be roaring, but don't go spending the winnings before kickoff eh. punter money talks, the ball decides 😉
Been here longer than some have followed.

  • That Manawatu one-pointer should be warning enough for anyone slapping NZ$ on the TAB here 😏 one away trip went sideways already.

    It's a lottery, not sport.

  • AmyBlues has a fair point there, one away loss already on the card. though i'd say manawatu taught them something useful. The home crowd at stadium taranaki is doing half the defensive work for them. back in my day we called grounds like that a fortress, and new plymouth on a spring evening genuinely earns the word. that eden park itch you mentioned, underdogenightmare, i know it well, stood on the terrace for those bledisloe nights myself, and a full ground does things to a team no training week can. Wellington will come to spoil the party of course, they always travel well, so anyone throwing NZ$ on the TAB expecting a walkover might want to hold their horses 😉 still, if the sun's out on the 4th, i'd back the eruption over the upset.
    Seen it all, lads.

  • Two home wins by a combined 52 points and suddenly everyone's a prophet 😏 Manawatu away says this mob's mortal when the crowd's not carrying them.
Here to argue, not to nod along.

  • Funny thing about expectations, I remember a season when our lot looked untouchable at home then tripped over the one game everyone pencilled in as a gimme. Watch as long as I have and you'll get it: the crowd carried them through Southland and Auckland, sure, but Wellington will fancy themselves exactly because Manawatu showed the blueprint. That one-point heartbreaker taught this mob more than the two blowouts combined, I reckon 😄 October the 4th could go either way, and that's half the fun of it, eh.
Watch as long as I have and you'll get it.
