Taranaki smashed Southland 55:19 and beat Auckland

Taranaki
55:19 then 28:12, that's form you back with real money. Only wobble was the one-point slip at Manawatu and those happen. I'm on Taranaki at home in New Plymouth on the 4th, took them head-to-head at the TAB and chucked them into a multi with the odd try scorer 💸

There's a nuance in that run people are skimming over, three of the four fixtures were at Stadium Taranaki, and the only road trip ended 25:27 at Manawatu. Form at home is real, I'll grant the 55:19 and 28:12 tell you plenty, but sample size away from New Plymouth is thin. I'd want to see how they go at Hawke's Bay on the 27th before putting real NZ$ on the Wellington line 📊
    Numbers > vibes.

  • Fair point on the away sample, but the Hawke's Bay trip on the 27th fixes that before the 4th, if they win in Napier the road worry is dead and the home price will already be crushed. I'm still leaning Taranaki head-to-head, though I'd rather take the line than odds that short after 55:19. Waiting on that Hawke's Bay result before I fire the multi 🔥
Value over a big price 💸

  • Chloe said the price gets crushed if they win in Napier, bold words from someone whose last "lock" folded before halftime 😂 BadBeatKing, and in reality? You picked against them twice this month and both times ate a loss 💸 I'm on Taranaki at Stadium Taranaki again, easy money, well for me anyway 🤡😏

  • Back in the day I watched plenty of bigRep totals go flat when the crowds turned up expecting a walkover. BadBeatKing has it right. Home form isn't away form. Ah well, we'll see 😉
    Seen it all, lads.

  • Funny how everyone suddenly fancies the line once the price gets steamy, nobody here backed them before the 55:19 🤡 Personally waiting on Napier before I touch the 4th, one away win changes everything 😏
    Any stat can be bent.

  • BadBeatAndy's got a point, i was at yarrow stadium for the southland game and the place was buzzing, but back in my day taranaki could look world beaters at home and then lose the plot the moment they crossed the cook straight 😄 wait for napier myself. Watch as long as i have and you'll get it, one away trip tells you more than two home walkovers. seen worse steam trains than this one come off the rails too 😉
Been here longer than some have followed.

  • Love how Metric_nerd's suddenly a footy historian the second his old picks start looking silly 😂 Napier away at Hawke's Bay is a proper test, wind at McLean Park sorts the pretenders from the rest, and I've seen plenty of Taranaki sides wobble up there. I'll back them at Stadium Taranaki on the 4th, sure thing, mate. Right up until they hand Wellington a soft one and my NZ$ goes up in smoke 💸

  • Agree with the Napier crowd here - that Hawke's Bay trip on the 27th will tell us more than any of the wins so far. McLean Park in a southerly has humbled better sides than this mob, and back in my day I saw Taranaki teams come home from there with their tails between their legs more than once 😄 Still, young fellas backing them at the TAB on the 4th aren't crazy either. That Southland demolition was the best hour of footy I've seen at the ground in years, and old Southland sides got put to the sword just as quick in my day too and it meant nothing the following week. So I'll wait for Napier before I put my NZ$ anywhere near the Wellington line. Patience, that's the whole game. 😉
Watch as long as I have and you'll get it.

  • Wind at McLean Park, half the country gets that wrong, let alone away sides. Anyone piling on Taranaki for the 4th before seeing the 27th is donating money 😏💸

  • gothedistance puts it well enough, anyone lumping on Taranaki for the 4th before that hawke's bay trip on the 27th is having themselves on 😉 mclean park in a nor'west has wrecked more good seasons than bad luck ever did, believe me. i'd hold the nz$ till we see napier, though i still fancy them against Wellington if the pack shows up again like it did versus southland.

  • Everyone's suddenly a McLean Park meteorologist 😂 Funny how the Manawatu slip vanished from TrueBeliever's memory when he was chucking them in his multi. One-point loss to a middling side says more than belting Southland at home ever will. Back them for Wellington all you like, just remind me of your ROI first 🤡💸

  • Ha, Supporter_88 has a point about that Manawatu loss going conveniently quiet when someone's building a multi 😄 one-point defeat away says plenty, and I've seen it all before. Sides look world-beaters at home then catch a cold over the hill. That said, I'm with the Napier caution crowd here. Back in my day the trip north was always the trap, and McLean Park in a bit of breeze has ruined more promising runs than I care to remember. I'd wait for the 27th before touching the Wellington game, if they come through Napier with the bell rung, home ground at Stadium Taranaki might save them anyway. Old saying from the shearing sheds: count the sheep after the muster, not before. My NZ$ stays in my pocket till then 😉

  • McLean Park? That's Napier, mate, Taranaki are at home in New Plymouth. Anyway, I've had my fingers burned chasing away slips before, so head-to-head only, small stake, see you after the 4th 😭🍺
