Rugby Park under lights for Northland on 2 October, who's in?
FINALLY a home fixture again π after those two away stings in Christchurch and New Plymouth we need Rugby Park rocking on 2 October. That 43:12 over Bay of Plenty under the lights was what a result looks like, time for more of the same π₯ Southland faithful, who's in?? πͺ

βGutted I'm all the way up here, that 43:12 night was the best I've seen Rugby Park breathe in years π₯ took me right back to the old NPC scraps we used to pack the hill for. Two away hiding stung hard but ah well, nowt to do, home soil fixes everything. Northland mob, come down if you dare, bring your millwall chants whatever they are, the Stags will do the talking π± get in!! π₯πͺYou don't abandon your own.

Anyone checked the TAB line yet? After two hidings away I'd expect Southland giving up points at home rather than taking them, but that 43:12 against Bay of Plenty says Rugby Park is worth a few. I'll wait for the line to move before dropping anything - jumping in straight after Christchurch is how I got burned last season. Value's probably on Northland +whatever it opens at, sadly.Up one week, down the next. Classic.

The boys have been on a road trip that felt like a dad of five driving to Auckland with no snacks π€£ time to come home, breathe actual Invercargill air and remember how the whole thing works. I'll be there in my coat that's 60% cat hair, roaring like I'm getting paid for it. Count me in πHold my pint.

Been to Rugby Park a couple of times over the years and there's just something about a Friday night under those lights, the crowd right on top of you π₯ That 43:12 over my lot (yes it stung, cheers boys π€¬) showed what happens when the whole town gets behind them. Canterbury and Taranaki away? you just know those bus trips home were silent, three hidings on the road is enough for any team. So 2 October, Northland coming down, this is the one to get right back in it. Our lot never make it easy but that's why we love em aye πͺ Bet the TAB has them written off already and tbh that suits me fine, they play better with a chip on the shoulder. Get in early, get a spot on the hill, bring the family π who else is in??Heart with the team, head on pause.

Genuinely unsure here, don't laugh π but Diehard, didn't Counties Manukau away also come with our "proper" defence? 47 points is 47 points no matter whose sky it's under π I'd love to believe the lights work magic, just not sure the boys do honestly. Still keen for the 2nd though, going if I can get down πLearn something new every day.

Honest question from a newbie here π JackFan, the terrace noise was unreal vs Bay of Plenty, but we still got pumped twice away since thenβ¦ does a loud park actually tighten a defence, or do we just hope the boys turn up on the night? 43:12 was magic though, imagine that again on the 2nd π₯ someone explain simply if crowd really swings games?Learning from the veterans, go easy π

Genuine question for Touchline23 though π if the crowd alone tightened the defence, wouldn't those away trips have gone better? Or do you reckon boys only hear us at Rugby Park? Still learning this, but I'd love to believe 2 Oct sorts itself out with a full terrace π₯New here, soaking it up.

Gentle nudge here but didn't we also pack the park against Counties Manukau... no wait, that was away π Maybe I'm wrong, but the Bay of Plenty roar felt like the players lifting the crowd just as much as the other way round? Keen for 2 Oct either way π

Funny thing about that Bay of Plenty night, I was up the back of the embankment with my old mate Robbie, and halfway through the second half he turns to me and says "this is the best I've felt at the park since the amateur days." Four weeks earlier we'd all been grumbling into our pies after Counties Manukau. Back in my day they used to say the crowd is the sixteenth man, and I've watched as long as I have and you'll get it. It lifts you by five points, maybe eight on a still night. It doesn't turn a 34-point hiding in Christchurch into a win on its own. So do I think a full terrace sorts out Northland on 2 October? Partly, aye. The boys owe us a response after Taranaki and Canterbury stung, and they've shown at home what they can do. But expectations have a way of tricking you - seen worse teams than ours talk themselves up after one good night. Still, I'll be there early, thermos in hand, and I'd sooner be proved wrong by a roaring Rugby Park than right from the couch πBeen here longer than some have followed.
