Right, lads, who's our new first five-eighth?

Word is something's quietly moving behind the scenes, and it's a name that'll make a few of you spit out your pie at the clubrooms. Ex-Blues playmaker, seen having a long yarn with someone connected to the union last week, and apparently the swan song up north appeals to him more than people reckon. Talking around NZ$80k plus a decent job to go with it, which for once sounds like the committee actually doing their homework rather than hoping. First five-eighth's been our missing spine piece since forever, so if there's real smoke here I'll happily eat my words. If it falls through like every other rumour, well, at least Semenoff deserves better than another year of punt-and-pray at ten. Strange one this, actually hearing good news before it gets denied 🤡

A long yarn at the clubrooms counts as evidence now? Name the playmaker or I'm calling it pie-fueled fiction. Receipts please.
    Sample first, conclusions after.

  • Imagine him pulling the strings at Semenoff with a proper backline round him 🔥 80k is a bargain tbh. Remember watching him carve us up that night, ah well, nowt to do but dream hey 🙌

  • I could be wrong, but I'd temper the excitement on the NZ$80k figure alone, a swan song only stacks up if his knee holds and he genuinely wants the Whangārei lifestyle rather than a pay bump elsewhere. Sample size matters too: at his age, one season of game time is all we'd likely get, so we'd need a young apprentice learning off him in the same window. Realistic enough if the union covers the job angle, I'd say, but keep the receipts coming before we anoint anyone.
Do the math before you argue.

  • FrontRowFan's onto it - the knee's the whole deal. NZ$80k plus work up here sounds sweet, but I'd want his fitness tested before we crack the bubbly.
    Numbers are honest, takes aren't.

  • Coached juniors with lads whose old man's seen him at the clubrooms, reckon there's smoke here 🙌 NZ$80k for even 12 games of proper game management? backing them all day 💪
    One love, one side ❤️

  • Back in the day we chased at least three names like this, and each one went quiet the moment someone up north offered a few extra NZ dollars or the wife said no to Whangārei 😄 remember one ex-Super bloke who was all but signed, turned up playing club footy in Auckland instead. knee, money, family. There's always a snag somewhere. ah well, we'll see.

@Metric_nerd ha, seen it all before myself, the wife test has sunk more signings than any knee scan 😄 still, even a dozen tidy games beats what we've had running the ship lately.
Remember when the grass was greener 🌱
