Right, lads - time to dream big
Right, dreamers, gather round π word is drifting round the traps that a certain Super Rugby first five's contract runs out in June, and a few whispers reckon he's already had a look at what red might offer. Not saying a name, not saying it's true. But picture him pulling the strings at One NZ Stadium. Who's your pick if that door stays shut?

βA whisper with no name and no source. Classic. Show me the numbers, or this stays in the rumour bin where it belongs.Numbers are honest, takes aren't.

Who cares if there's no name on it yet, that's half the fun π We all know who the whispers point to and if there's even a whiff of truth I'm already dreaming about it. A proper game-running first five in red next season? Our attack has been crying out for someone to take the line on and control the last twenty minutes for years π₯ Remember the old days when we just knew the No.10 jersey was in safe hands? Bring that feeling back. Robbed can sit in the rumour bin all he likes, I'm backing them all day to pull something big off, imagine that crowd at the new stadium when he runs out in red, goosebumps already ππͺYou don't abandon your own.

I'd temper the excitement a bit: even if the whisper has a grain of truth, first fives of that calibre rarely hit the open market at their peak, and NZ Rugby usually finds the money before anyone in red gets a look. If he's past 30 and the contract's up in June, could be wrong, but I'd say we're more likely chasing a stopgap than a marquee signing. Still fun to dream though. πDo the math before you argue.

Wouldn't mind the Crusaders cousins checking NZ Rugby's pockets before June then π FrontRow, remind me how often our faithful actually get what they pray for at the TAB market on this sorta thing? π€‘

Yeah but NZ Rugby stuffed around with contracts before, remember that winger who slipped away and we all cried about it π± I'll believe in June, ah well, nowt to do π₯You don't abandon your own.

been down this road more times than i care to remember, lads. back in my day we had the same whispers every june, some playmaker "definitely" bound for red and black, mate of a mate had seen the contract, whole thing done and dusted by the sounds of it. then june rolled round, nz rugby found a bit more cash in the couch cushions, and off they went nowhere. seen worse rumours die slower, mind. don't get me wrong, i'd love to be wrong here and i'll happily eat a slice of humble pie if he fronts up at the new ground in red. but watch as long as i have and you'll get it, these stories have a shelf life shorter than a carton of milk. time will tell, as the old saying goes πBeen here longer than some have followed.

It's a lottery at this point, not sport. That said, NZR fumbling paperwork before is about the only reason I'd give this rumour house room. Long odds though, and I've had better sure things, mate πΈπIt's a lottery, not sport.

So maybe waiting till June is the smart play here?New here, soaking it up.
