Word is that Wellington playmaker might be off contract come the season's out. Take that with a grain of salt of course, but imagine him running the show at Forsyth Barr with the Zoo in full voice 😏 I'd put a few NZ$ on that happening before I'd put them on my actual tipping record, which is frankly laughable this year. The fanboys will pile in telling me he'd never leave the capital, but stranger things have. 🤡

✓Yeah nah, I'll believe the Wellington rumour when someone shows actual receipts. Name, contract date, source, otherwise it's just punters dreaming out loud.

Gate's right to want receipts, but I'd add the logic test: a Wellington playmaker in his prime has zero structural reason to head south unless the minutes aren't there. Depends how you count it, but our track record of landing off-contract marquee backs is thin. Age curve matters too, I could be wrong, but if he's the guy I think he is, we'd be buying two good years max.

I'd throw a few NZ$ on it too, Andy, but knowing your tipping record that's basically the kiss of death for the deal 😂 Only thing I'd add - I know a bloke down the pub who reckons the rumour started right after the guy got subbed off early in Wellington, which reads more like hurt feelings than real talks. Be careful what you dream, lads. 🤡Here to argue, not to nod along.

NickDiehard makes the only sensible post in this thread so far. My caveat: even if the bloke's off contract, southern money rarely competes with a Wellington lifestyle plus a selectors' nod for the Canes, we've been burned before on exactly that maths. Give me a name and a contract expiry date and I'll take it seriously; until then it's pub chatter, same as GoTheDistance's mate down the pub.Sample first, conclusions after.
