Bloody quiet in here for a Monday, so I'll get things going.
Word is a certain Chiefs playmaker might not be re-signing when his deal's up, mates down at the club were nattering about it after training Saturday. No smoke without fire as they say, and if there's even half a chance he ends up in blue at Eden Park next season, well, I'd be first in line for a membership renewal. Imagine the place packed for his first run-out. Probably nothing in it, but it's a nice dream to have over the summer, eh? Who else have you lot got in mind for the 10 jersey?

✓"Word from the mates down at the club" is doing a lot of heavy lifting there, mate. Same mates who told us that loose forward was heading to Japan last year, was it? I'll believe a Chiefs playmaker is off-contract when someone posts the actual contract status, not Saturday-after-training gossip. Receipts please, otherwise this thread is built on nothing.

Gotta say, every time that little bloke plays against us he scares the life outta me 😱 takes the line on from everywhere, drops goals, chases his own chips like a madman... imagine all that running OUR attack for once. We've got decent 10s, sure, but I've been yelling for proper X-factor there for seasons now, someone who makes defenders panic instead of playing it safe. Him pulling the strings at a dry Eden Park with the backs we've got 🔥 we'd be scoring from our own 22 all night. Fair crack Gate, half these whispers go nowhere tbh, and yeah that same crew swore us a loose forward was Japan-bound... but let me dream for five minutes 🙌 if there's even a sniff he's off-contract, Leon and the boys should be knocking on his door. Imagine him in blue. Backing them all day 💪One love, one side ❤️

I could be wrong, but I'd temper the hope a bit: a playmaker of that quality off-contract and heading anywhere is rare, and the Chiefs don't usually let their ten walk unless the money's offshore. Age counts too, if he's the wrong side of 30, we'd be buying two good seasons, maybe three. I keep my own contract-watch table 📊 and there's nothing concrete in it yet, so treat the clubroom chatter as exactly that until someone posts the actual status.Do the math before you argue.

But nah, I saw the bloke tear us apart at Eden Park a few weeks back and half the ground went quiet every time he touched it, if there's even a sniff he's off-contract, I don't care what the sceptics say, you chase that till the cheque bounces. i've been watching this game since before some of you young lot were born, and i can tell you every couple of seasons this same rumour does the rounds, some star man "off-contract", some club insider who knows a bloke. half of them never leave. remember the year everyone swore a certain crusaders five-eighth was signed, sealed and delivered? gone quiet on that one pretty quick, didn't it 😄 that said, if there's even a whiff of truth in it this time, i'd love to see him in blue. man used to hurt us badly back in his day and i'd rather have that running our line than against it. patience, boys - time will tell. these things usually sort themselves out by the time the season papers are done.Remember when the grass was greener 🌱
