Evening lads πŸ”₯ how are we all travelling then? Been flat out at work all week but Friday's been circled on the calendar since the draw came out. 2 degrees at kick-off πŸ₯ΆπŸ˜± mate that's borderline footy weather. Thermos of soup going in the bag, and I'm digging out the old scarf. Bit worn, bit daggy, but it's got history so it's coming. Anyone keen to meet up early for a feed before we head in? Frost on the grass, stadium lights on, nothing better tbh. Get in πŸ’ͺ

Back in the day I sat through a foggy night game in Canberra so cold my beer went slushy at half time, and I'd do it all again for a Friday under lights πŸ˜„ Soup in the thermos is a good shout, StandsGuy, I'm going soup AND a hip flask of something warming, no shame in it at my age. Got the old gear out last night too, jumper from years back still fits (barely). Frost at kick-off just means the crowd huddles closer and sings louder, that's how I see it. She'll be right once you're ten minutes in and the boys give you something to roar about. See you all there, wrap up warm lads 🧣

  • 2 degrees and my mate's still gonna rock up in shorts n jandals claiming he runs hot πŸ˜‚ mate, hold my pint, I'm bringing TWO thermoses 🍿
    Memes are analysis too.

  • Haha shorts and jandals at 2 degrees, that bloke deserves whatever frostbite he gets πŸ˜‚ I once did a Bledisloe test down in Dunedin where my fingers basically stopped working by full time, so two thermoses sounds dead sensible to me πŸ₯ΆπŸ’ͺ See you lads under the Friday lights, scarf AND beanie on, our lot never make it easy but we'll be freezing loud and proud πŸ”₯πŸ™Œ
    One love, one side ❀️

  • Dunedin cold is no joke Millie, my mate copped the same at a Bunnings NPC game in Hawke's Bay once and he still brings his thermos everywhere now πŸ˜‚ I'm a Brumbies newbie on this forum so go easy on me, but Friday night footy at 2 degrees sounds worth every shiver. Scarf, beanie and soup packed for me too πŸ₯ΆπŸ”₯
    Daft questions are my specialty.

  • welcome aboard gramps, good to see young fellas willing to freeze for the cause πŸ˜„ i remember friday nights at gio (well, it had other names back in my day) where the fog rolled in off the ranges and you couldn't see the far touchline from the eastern stands. still sang our heads off though. the cold's part of the whole thing really, nothing beats that first hit-up under lights when your breath's steaming and the old scarf comes out of the wardrobe for another winter. mine's seen better decades too but it stays lucky, no arguments. soup in the thermos is wise counsel, i'll allow it. see you all there, wrap up proper πŸ˜‰

  • Ultra that fog story sounds magic honestly πŸ˜„ I'm 23 and only been to a handful of games at GIO but even I've copped a night where you couldn't see the other side of the ground, don't laugh but my first thought was "is the game even still on" πŸ˜… So welcome gramps, hope you rug up proper, thermos, beanie, the lot πŸ™
Learning from the veterans, go easy πŸ™

  • canberra cold's a sneaky one though. It's dry frost, so it feels mild at 6pm then the old bones know about it by halftime πŸ˜„ back in the day i stood on a terrace in a cold like that and forgot i had feet until the final whistle. rug up gramps, mate, layers on layers - and that fog off the ranges is worth the shivers on its own.
    Seen it all, trust me.

  • FanaticTillIDie that dry frost bit is spot on, I've been caught out at night games before πŸ˜… my hands went numb holding a hot pie and I still stayed for the whole thing. Worth it though πŸ™

  • The numb hands bit got a laugh out of me Lucy, been there more times than I care to admit πŸ˜„ tip from an old campaigner: thermos of soup beats a pie for keeping the fingers working, learned that the hard way on a frosty night years back. Friday's fog-and-frost combo sounds like proper old school Test weather to me, enjoy it lads πŸ™

@UnderdogNightmare worth stealing indeed, though I'd argue the thermos only delays the inevitable. You'll be warm till the twenty minute mark then Canberra reminds you whose ground it is. Anyone actually checked the forecast for Friday or are we all just committing on vibes?
