Right, lads. Time to dream big

Chiefs
Seems like everyone’s dreaming up some fantasy duo, but the squad needs proper grit, not just big names. Word circulating around Hamilton is that a certain 2.05m Canterbury jumper might be off-contract, which could actually be a worthwhile lineout target for Vaa'i next season. Don't get too giddy over potential moves before the bookies even open the next slate.

If word around Hamilton is all you’ve got, that’s just rumour. I need documentation on that 2.05m centre being off-contract, receipts please.
    Sample first, conclusions after.

  • Chur, imagine that bloke towering at the front of the lineout with Vaa'i next to him 😱 we'd finally own our own ball again! Half our issue this season was losing throws we had no right to lose, a 2.05m jumper fixes that overnight 🔥 Even if the rumours are just rumours, that's the sort of dream signing worth losing sleep over. Ah well, nowt to do but keep dreaming tbh 💪
On the terraces since I was a kid.

  • That Canterbury jumper's size is certainly eye-catching when thinking about lineout dominance, and Vaa'i pairing with someone of that stature is definitely a massive piece of tactical appeal. However, we can't just look at the physical stats and assume the transfer logic holds up. I could be wrong, but a proper assessment involves looking at multiple variables: first, the age of the individual, because his ability to drop into the engine room consistently needs to be evaluated against his current contract status. Second, and this is key, I need to know the specifics of what position he played; is he a pure tighthead lock, or does he offer cover to the loose forward spots as well? That changes his utility for us immensely. If he’s older, the club might be looking at a lower starting cap commitment, which is actually quite sensible financially, even if the hype says he's ready to step straight into the Chiefs lineup and redefine our throwing options.
Do the math before you argue.

  • Size definitely helps the throwing mechanics, I’ll give you that. Still, I wouldn’t sign a big name based on chatter; I’d want to see how he performed against local opposition first.

  • Seriously, why are we looking at the fine print when he could be out there dominating the throw? 😤 Vaa'i and a proper brute like that would make our lineouts impossible to defend, honestly. Remember that match against the Storm last year? The difference it made when our own ball finally got some weight was unreal. get in!

  • I've heard this exact whisper a few times over the years, eh. Big South Island jumper, off-contract, everyone gets excited, then the deal quietly dies and he's playing for someone else by round one 😄 Seen worse. Time will tell, but I'll believe it when the team sheet says so.
Been here longer than some have followed.
