Fraser McReight should be moved to the bench

Honestly, I'd back McReight to the bench, and I don't care who yells at me. 😏 Look at the record itself - three losses from our last five at Suncorp with him starting is already a fair ask, but the breakdown numbers falling off a cliff when he goes off? That tells you two things: the bloke's either carrying or hiding an injury, or the rest of the pack gets comfortable knowing he'll clean up their sloppiness. Either way, it's a bad dependency. Start the back row that plays best as a unit, bring Fraser on to wreck tired legs in the last 30. I've seen the smarter punter money line up this way for weeks. The TAB market quietly agrees with the bench theory too, if you actually watch where the line moves. Sure thing, mate, keep starting him and keep wondering why we cough up turnovers late.

Amy, three from five at Suncorp is a small sample. Who was injured those nights? And define "breakdown stats drop 20%", source on that?

  • Nah Retro, five games at Suncorp tells you plenty when the ruck dies every time he's off πŸ’€ McReight off the bench is gonna hit like a battering ram, you just know πŸ”₯

  • Retro's got a point on the sample size, but the ruck numbers are the part I'd weight more heavily. Five matches at Suncorp tells you very little on its own. Different opponents, injuries, weather. A near 20% drop in breakdown stats when McReight leaves the park is the metric I'd actually trust, because it's measured across more minutes than those five games and it isolates his effect directly. My read: keep him starting, use the bench impact argument for someone else. πŸ“Š

  • Back in the day at Lancaster Park we'd judge a fetcher by what he did for 80 minutes, not by five drizzly nights at one ground πŸ˜„ Seen worse calls than benching McReight though. The ruck numbers do make you wonder. Either way Les will pick what suits the game plan, ah well, we'll see
    Seen it all, lads.

  • Funny how Retro wants a thesis on five games but never asked that when McReight was the hero 🀑 Breakdown stat's the one I'd trust. Sure thing, mate 😏

  • @GoTheDistanceOrNothing cute how you trust the breakdown stat now when it's the one saying he's been off it πŸ˜‚ five games is five games mate, ruck numbers don't lie about fetchers. I'd back him to start against the Tahs and eat them alive, so bench talk is a wind-up right? πŸ’Έ

  • Sorry but five games is a fair dinkum tiny sample 🀷 one dodgy derby night at Suncorp and everyone's ready to bench our best fetcher?? Those breakdown numbers worry me more tbh, but I reckon he starts against the Tahs and silences the lot of ya… ah well, nowt to do but wait for Les πŸ”₯

  • Five games is a fair dinkum small sample, I could be wrong, but the ruck drop-off is the number I'd trust. Leave it with Les. πŸ“Š
