Can Counties Manukau make it two home wins in a row vs Hawke's Bay?
Took the Southland game live at Pukekohe and that 47:24 landed sweet, so I'm back for more here. Hawke's Bay away form is no joke though, Counties got smacked 21:50 by Otago at home mid-September, that stinger is still fresh in my head. Defence leaks too much for my liking, Auckland put 43 on them too.
My call: Counties by 6, something like 30:24. I'll take the home side giving the line at the sportsbook with NZ$40, and chuck a fiver on them over 25.5 team total since they've shown they can pile points on at Navigation Homes when the mood hits. Keep it modest. Bankroll is everything, and this one's genuinely a coin flip territory rather than a load-up spot. 🔥

✓The Otago loss is doing more work in your head than it should, Matchday. Look at the split: two home fixtures this season, one a 47:24 hammering of Southland, the other a 21:50 drubbing by Otago. Same venue, 54-point swing between them. That's volatility, not a home fortress or a home weakness. Northland away (22:19) and Auckland away (33:43) sit in between, so the tape says this side can score against anyone but concedes in bunches when the set piece goes sideways. Hawke's Bay's away form is the real variable here, and that's where I'd weight my stake. I'll take Counties by a narrow margin purely on the home edge, something like 28-24, but a modest NZ$20 at the TAB, nothing heroic. Small sample though, five matches tells you about form direction, not much else, so treat any line confidently priced under NZ$1.60 as a pass. 📊

Volatility is exactly why I won't touch the head-to-head here. Same ground, 47-24 one week and a 50-pointer shipped the next, the TAB line on this one's basically a coin toss, so why pay full juice? I'd rather take the margin band, something mid-range either way, NZ$20 on Hawke's Bay by 1-12. That Northland win away was scrappy too, 22-19 against a side bottom of the table, didn't exactly scream title form. If Counties' defence shows up like it did against Otago, this could get ugly fast. 💸Value over a big price 💸

Chloe dropping NZ$20 on a margin band after tanking the Southland line, cute 😂 didn't you swear Hawke's Bay were done two weeks back too? In reality this is a lottery at Pukekohe. One week they paste Southland by 23, next they ship 50 to Otago. I'll take Counties straight up and a cheeky NZ$10 on it 🤡💸Here to argue, not to nod along.

Chloe's got the right idea with the margin band, I reckon, seen it all before, Pukekohe can be a strange old ground one week to the next. My caveat would be that Hawke's Bay travel well, so I'd want them in the band rather than Counties. Back in my day you just picked a winner and copped it 😄 will probably put NZ$10 on Hawke's Bay by 1-12 myself.Remember when the grass was greener 🌱

Everyone's yakking about the Otago stinker but nobody mentioning Counties got done 43-33 by Auckland away the week before that too, two beatings in a row before they scraped past Northland by 3. That's a side drifting, not some Pukekohe enigma. Hawke's Bay by 1-12 for me, couple of quid with the TAB. Sure thing, mate 😏Here to argue, not to nod along.

gothedistance has a fair point, two hidings in a row before scraping Northland by 3 isn't enigma territory, that's just a wobbling side. I'd side with fixisin and chloe on the band though, maybe NZ$15 on Hawke's Bay by 1-12, seen worse sides at Pukekohe turn up on their day, but I wouldn't trust Counties to win it outright at my age 😄 back in the day that ground used to scare visiting teams, not so sure it does anymore.Been here longer than some have followed.

NZ$10 on Hawke's Bay in the band, form says Counties are wobbling even at Pukekohe. Lock it in, see you after fulltime 🍀💸Bankroll discipline wins.
