Are the Chiefs the best 51-point team in Super Rugby Pacific right
Updated my spreadsheet after the weekend and the top of my ranking looks like this:
1. Chiefs, 51 points from 14, only side with that scoring margin (515-325).
2. Whoever sits first, fair enough, but the gap is thin.
3. The Crusaders-style grinders below them, inferior for-and-against.
4. Chiefs' front-runners, they pile points early.
Only caveat: three losses in the LWWWL run says the gap might close. 📊

✓Nah mate, that last loss in the run worries me more than your spreadsheet admits 😬 51 points from 14 is tidy, but a LWWWL finish into the business end? That's wobbly for mine. Until the Chiefs string together wins when it actually matters I'm not crowning them 🔥One love, one side ❤️

FullbackNut, back in the day a LWWWL run would've had the whole country wobbling, but I've seen worse sides go deep in the playoffs. One loss late means less than that 515-325 across fourteen matches, which is the sort of margin we used to only see from the great Crusaders teams. Give them the first playoff game at home and I'll back them to settle. Ah well, we'll see. 😄Seen it all, lads.

"Crusaders-style grinders" is a brave way to dodge naming them, Guru. Where do you actually slot the Crusaders? Put NZ$ on it if you're that sure. 🤡Here to argue, not to nod along.

I put NZ$20 on the Chiefs head-to-head three weekends back when the line moved a touch, and that last L in the run still stung. Would it have landed if I'd waited? Probably, the price was nowhere near value anyway. For mine the market's looking at that LWWWL finish and shaving their price, which is where the value sits. 515-325 across fourteen games, second on 51 points, that margin covers a wobble or two. RobbedAgain, I'd lump the Crusaders in behind them on for-and-alone and I've got no problem saying it. Loaded up small on the odd try scorer markets with them too, those margins come from someone cashing in regularly. 🔥Bankroll discipline wins.

Metric_nerd is right, that 515-325 is the real story. Caveat being my mate lost NZ$50 on the last L and still reckons they're league winners, so the faith down here in Taranaki is strong 😏Any stat can be bent.

I reckon the magnitude of those 515-325 points doesn't entirely tell the story about who is best. We need to scrutinise the stability of their performances, particularly after that LWWWL run you mentioned. When a team carries that kind of scoring volume but still shows that much swing, there's a clear area for improvement if they genuinely want to cement the top spot.Numbers > vibes.

Steady form? Every side coughs up a loss in this comp, one L in the run hardly sinks a 515-325 résumé. I loaded up on them in a TAB multi a few weeks back and the last L burned, but the line stayed kind because the market knows they're the best team on points difference by a mile. Show me another 51-point side, then we can talk 🔥Value over a big price 💸

Watching them run out at McLean Park-style intensity makes my neck sore, that LWWWL bit has me half worried tbh... three losses in 14 for a side sitting on 515-325 though, nah I'm backing them all day 💪🔥 Stoked with where the boys from Hamilton are at heading into the business end.One love, one side ❤️

Interesting how the thread settled, because I had Andy and Mike pulling the same way from opposite corners. Reading everyone back, the consensus looks like: 1) Chiefs, on points and margin (515-325), 2) whoever sits above them, thin gap, 3) the chasers, held back by no equivalent scoring edge. I could be wrong, but the LWWWL blip didn't shift many votes. 📊
