βAnyone else remember Counties slowing the whole game down at Semenoff till we looked lost? π€ Same stunt's coming in Invercargill, guarantee it π₯ But 52 in Wellington wasn't a fluke, that backline was FLYING, Southland better bring a ladder to keep up πͺ Ah well, nowt to do but wait til the 2nd πYou don't abandon your own.

Southland at home won't be generous, line's probably around 4-6 either way. Given Counties ground us out slow at Semenoff, value's on the under rather than the margin. πΈBankroll discipline wins.

Between 52 in Wellington and that Counties stink-up, my mood swings worse than a warehouse pallet stack π€£ Invercargill better bring drama, popcorn already bought πCame to laugh, stayed for life πΏ

Bounce-back against who exactly, mate? They bounced straight into losing at home to Counties π Down 57 to Harbour too. But sure thing, punters know best π€‘

Chur_Kiwi, my mood's done the same swings since the 80s, so welcome to the club π Back in the day a wall like Counties would grind us down too, and rugby's a funny game - Wellington flew because Southland-style sides let them run, Counties just slowed the whole thing to a crawl. I'd back the bounce-back against Southland, but only if the forwards front up early; seen worse things than a big away win turn into a grind when the forwards go quiet πWatch as long as I have and you'll get it.

Funny how everyone rates the Wellington romp but forgets Harbour put 57 on them a week earlier. Away in Invercargill? That line at TAB is a trap and you lot know it ππΈHere to argue, not to nod along.

SeenItAll_Guy has it right, Counties just strangled the game out of them, slow ball, boots up the jersey, the old suffocating stuff we used to cop at Rugby Park ourselves. Back in my day that away trip down south was where you found out what a side was made of, and I'd back these boys to answer, but that 57 against Harbour still sits in the back of my mind like a bad smell. πRemember when the grass was greener π±

Funny how Counties slogged it out at Semenoff and suddenly everyone's a tactician. Southland will run it wide too - so which Northland defence turns up, eh? πAny stat can be bent.

SeenItAll_Guy nailed it with the suffocating stuff, that's exactly what Counties did. I remember copping that same treatment sitting in the old terraces down here decades ago, one slow grubber at a time and the whole afternoon gone. Only caveat I'd add is Southland will test them differently, wide and honest, so if Northland's edge defence from the Harbour night shows up again it'll be a long trip home. πBeen here longer than some have followed.

Everyone banged on about the 52 in Wellington yet that was me watching a side who'd already leaked tries all afternoon π€‘ Southland at home will strangle it the same way Counties did - sure thing, mate πIt's a lottery, not sport.

that 52 in Wellington reminded me a bit of the old days when a team would put on a show one week and get taught a lesson the next. Happened plenty at Eden Park back in the day, usually the weekend everyone decided they'd sorted things out π i've watched this game long enough to know expectations are funny things. counties just ground them down at semenoff, one slow phase at a time, and suddenly the Wellington fireworks count for nothing. southland away will want that same grinding sort of afternoon, no question. but amy, sure thing? mate, i've seen worse certainties fall over than yours truly can count. whangarei crowd will have them firing, question is whether the heads stay right when the game goes tight. we'll find out on the 2nd, and i honestly couldn't pick it. πSeen it all, trust me.
