Still get chills watching that 2015 haka before the Wallabies final
i remember huddling round the telly back in 2015, old school reunion night at my cousin's place, and when that haka started before the final the whole room just went quiet. thirty years of watching test footy and it still puts a shiver up my spine. and yeah, beauden's try off the cleanout, your mate's not wrong, sweetest pass you'll see. ah well, we'll see if the current boys give us a moment like that again 😉

✓Man that room going quiet says everything doesn't it 😄 I was flatting in Mt Eden at the time, we crammed about ten of us into a loungeroom with a dodgy secondhand telly. When the haka started my flatmate. Born and raised in England, mind, just whispered "geez" and everyone forgot their drinks. Chills every single time, no shame in saying it 🖤 And then Beauden steaming onto that ball off the cleanout! I yelled so loud the neighbour banged on the wall 😂 That final was just our whole night, everything clicked. Even now I watch replays of it and get the same buzz. Through thick and thin eh 🙌You don't abandon your own.

Funny how memory works, eh. I could be wrong, but I reckon the 2015 mob had this ruthless calm the current side is still growing into. The haka before that final felt like a full stop before the sentence, and Baz's pass off the deck was just the exclamation mark. This young group has more flash and pace, mind you, but that old crew just knew exactly when to step on your throat. Depends how you count it, but I'd back 2015 in a hypothetical still.

Chills every time I watch Baz pick that thing off the deck at full pace 🔥 I was in a Nelson pub that night, whole place went dead silent for the haka then erupted when he dotted down, my old man rang me straight after and he reckons it's the sweetest pass he's seen from a first five, full stop. That 2015 crowd just had something none of the others have tbh 💪🙌On the terraces since I was a kid.
