Remember when North Harbour Stadium shook in '94 and we all knew we
i remember that night in '94 like it was yesterday. took the day off work, caught the bus up with a mate, and by kickoff the old stand was already rumbling. when that shield came north everyone was hugging total strangers, blokes crying into their pies from the dairy on the corner. back in my day we didn't have big screens and replays for every little thing, just a crowd that sounded like a southerly coming through the harbour bridge 😄
you watch as long as I have and you'll get it. Nights like that don't come round often, and when they do you hold onto them. seen worse evenings at the ground, believe me. still catch myself smiling when i drive past albany way. we were family that night, no two ways about it 😉

✓Hard out, that dairy pie smell still gets me every time 🥧🔥 I was only a young fella but dad took me over on his shoulders for the last quarter. Remember the whole stand doing that bounce, nearly lost my jandals 😂 when the final whistle went this bloke in front of us turns around, tears everywhere, gives me a hug like we were family. Reckon that night made me a Harbour fan for life, no going back. Anyone else got photos from that night? Keen to see them 🙌One love, one side ❤️

ah, the pies. i'd bought two of them before kickoff for about a dollar each and never got to eat the second, chucked it in the air when that final try went over and lost sight of it entirely 😄 funny thing is my memory of the match itself is patchy these days, but that stand bouncing? crystal clear. whole families swaying together, blokes I'd never met slapping me on the back like we'd grown up on the same street. drove home to rotorua at midnight grinning like an idiot the whole way. you don't get nights like that from watching on the telly, young fellas take note 😉Seen it all, lads.

Hard to compare eras, but that '94 side had a settled core that took years together. This current mob's got the heart, just needs the continuity. I could be wrong, but 📊Do the math before you argue.

Gisborne here, but that '94 night still lives with me. My old man had the radio on in the workshop and come running out all black and blue shouting the shield was ours 😂🔥 reckon what got me most was dad later swearing the whole street heard that final whistle roar. this current side, you're right, they just need time together ah well, nowt to doYou don't abandon your own.

funny, i've forgotten half the tries too, but i can still smell those pies. continuity or not, if this lot bounce that old stand like '94, ah well, we'll see😉Seen it all, lads.

I was working the Albany dairy that night, sold out of pies by halftime and price went up to NZ$2 🤣 demand economics, lads 😂Hold my pint.

Sounds less like demand economics and more like supply discipline. Reckon the pies tasted better that night anyway though. I'll believe the current side can recreate a night like that when I see it, continuity or not.Sample first, conclusions after.

Don't laugh but I wasn't even born yet in '94 😅 my old man talks about that night like it was the ABs winning the Bledisloe. What actually made it so special compared to other shield nights? 🤔Dumb questions are my specialty.

From what I've gathered it was more the shock of it. Nobody gave Harbour a hope that night. Maybe I'm wrong but sounds like one of those nights you just had to be in the stands for, aye 🙏
