i remember watching that 2004 final on a grainy telly at a mate's place, still half convinced larkham would try one more drop goal just for laughs π back in the day we used to travel up for the big ones, and that afternoon against the crusaders was the sweetest of the lot. ah well, we'll see if tonight's beers match it.

βGrainy telly, ha - I was the kid in the lounge yelling at the screen in his Brumbies jersey while the rest of the whanau backed the Crusaders π 38-19, Larkham pulling the strings, best afternoon ever tbh. Been through thick and thin since then and never looked back ππHeart with the team, head on pause.

ah, you two have got me misty-eyed on a tuesday morning π my old man and i drove up from dunedin for that one, cost us a small fortune in petrol even back then, worth every cent. what sticks with me is larkham just floating about like he had all afternoon, and gregan giving the crusaders nothing to feed off. my old fella, who'd watched the amateur days and swore nothing would ever top them, turns to me at full time and says "well, i was wrong." high praise indeed π been on this rollercoaster ever since, thin years and all. a team gives you afternoons like that once, you're theirs for life.Been here longer than some have followed.
