Remember when the Harbour roared loud enough to shake Albany?
i was at that 94 shield night, young lot won't believe it but i'd queued since mid-afternoon with a flask of tea and a meat pie that cost less than the parking does now. albany was new back then and the whole hill seemed to shake when that final whistle went. I was up the back of the terraces, could hardly hear myself cheer over the bloke next to me who'd lost his voice by halftime 😄
watch as long as i have and you'll get it. A shield win like that only comes round once in a blue moon, and we all knew it that night. stayed on the terrace singing long after everyone else had gone home. anyone else there, or am i the old relic of this thread? 😉

ah the queue stories bring it back 😄 I was on the terrace that night, mate, and back in the day the whole hill sang together like one big family, still remember my old flatmate hugging a total stranger when the whistle went. Funny thing is my daughter asked me last week what the noise was like, and I told her watch as long as I have and you'll get it. 😉Watch as long as I have and you'll get it.

@SeenItAll_Guy mean, that's the stuff that gives me chills reading it 😍 I only know 94 from old VHS tapes my uncle kept, whole hill bouncing, you can barely hear the commentary 💪 wish I could've been there tbh... you reckon the current crop can get the hill singing like that again? felt a bit of it at the derby last season but nowhere near that 🔥Heart with the team, head on pause.

Lovely memories above, chaps. Tbh the 94 side had that aura where you half expected them to win the shield every time they defended it, while this current crop has to grind for everything - younger legs, less steel, but there's flashes of similar spirit when the hill gets behind them. Small sample of good performances this season though, so I'll hold off crowning anyone just yet 📊. Either way, nights like that one at Albany are why we keep showing up.

This thread makes me feel all misty eyed 🥺 I’ve only seen videos of these matches, but reading about the crowd singing like that sounds epic. Can someone explain simply what makes the atmosphere there so much different from other rugby grounds? 🙏😊

@JoshDiehard been there for a few of those hill moments myself, coach the juniors now and I still tell em about it 😂 current crop CAN do it, just needs one big scalp to light the fuse 🔥💪
