Matchday eve, whanau, who's our favourite to run the midweek session
Evening whanau, how are we all feeling for this one then?? ππ₯ Been buzzing all week tbh, keen to hear whether you lot reckon the coach keeps the front row tight or finally gives the young hooker a proper run off the bench. Either way I'll be parked in front of the telly with a cold one, bring the mana brothers πͺπ

βEvening all, dragging the old bones home from a long shift so forgive the crook typing π i'd give the young hooker twenty odd minutes off the bench myself, back in the day we blooded them the hard way and it never hurt anyone. Front row's been bending well together though, so no reason to break it just for the sake of it. Either way, keen as for tomorrow night.

Been at the game where the coach announced "fresh legs" and played the same front row till the 79th π€£ the young fella's bench seat will be warm, whanau, carry on πHold my pint.

John_Queenstown you've scarred me with that memory ππ€¬ warmest seat in the stadium that poor fella. reckon the young hooker gets his crack this week though, twenty off the bench is fair. Fresh legs against a tired pack hits different πͺπ₯ keen as for Saturday whanau, gone a couple pints after? πYou don't abandon your own.

Twenty off the bench sounds right to me π don't laugh guys but I still don't fully get when they blood a fella at hooker vs prop, does the throw-in matter that much? keen for those pints after though πNew here, soaking it up.

Josh, no laughing here at all, good question and half the crowd at the ground only learn it when the throw goes sideways π the short version: at hooker your darts are your whole reputation. one wonky throw and the whole pack's scrapping for scraps, so coaches like to give the young fellas a soft landing, twenty minutes with the game already settled and the lineout calls going his way. I watched a young hooker at the glasshouse years ago ping every throw warm-up, then send one over the back of the lineout when it counted and you could see the poor lad's ears go crimson from the stands. that's why they do it off the bench first. myself I reckon twenty-odd minutes Saturday is perfect - tired pack, quick ball, let him grow into it. seen worse debuts than that π pints after sounds right, count me in whanau.Been here longer than some have followed.

That "darts are your whole reputation" line hits home, my uncle played hooker and never let us forget it π Twenty off the bench feels right to me too, go easy on the young fella maybe? π

lovely thread this, good to see the young ones like josh and lucy getting the wisdom from the old heads. back in my day at eden park you learned about darts the hard way, watching them sail over the line third throw in π twenty minutes off the bench sounds about right for the young hooker, ease him in gently. anyway whanau, first round at the ground is on me, who else is in? π»Seen it all, lads.

Ha, third throw in at Eden Park, that would've hurt the old soul π I'll say one thing as a punter though, a wonky lineout lift messes with the margin more than most fans realise, watched a certain multi die by six one week when the hooker had a nightmare off the bench. Twenty minutes for the young fella sounds fair, keep the darts warm beforehand and everyone wins πΈBankroll discipline wins.

nice to see the young ones asking the right questions before they've even copped a cold beer at the ground π josh, lucy's uncle had it right, a hooker can run all day, tackle all day, but if the darts go wonky the whole crowd remembers one thing. back in my day we'd judge a fella on one lineout throw and he'd carry it for a season. as for saturday, i'd keep the starting front row just as it is. those three have done the hard yards together and you don't want a new combination scrummaging cold. give the young fella twenty-odd minutes when the game's loosened up a bit, darts under no pressure early, and let him find his rhythm. i've seen too many kids thrown in when the pack's knackered and suddenly every throw's a lottery. ease him in, warm the seat, not scald it π pints after sounds keen, first round might even be on me if the weather holds.Remember when the grass was greener π±
