Hurricanes lead the pack on 55

Been updating my table every Sunday and this run-in looks proper tasty. Hurricanes on 55 after 14, Chiefs four back on 51, and the Crusaders have won four straight to sit on 41, which is a sneaky shake from the chasing pack. The Blues losing five on the bounce down to 38 tells you how fast this can turn. One caveat: 14 rounds is still a decent sample but form swings hard in this comp, so I'd hold off crowning anyone yet. 📊

Chiefs all day 🔥 four points back with the run-in to come, we've done this before. Backing them through thick and thin 💪

  • Seen this shape plenty of times over the years, and rarely does the halfway leader lift the silverware. Back in my day the Crusaders made a habit of lurking outside the top two then peaking when it counted, and that four-match burst of theirs smells exactly like one of those runs. The Chiefs breathing down the Hurricanes' necks keeps it honest too. Old proverb for you lads: the table in June counts for nought when the finals roll around 😉

  • "The Crusaders peak when it counts" is a nice story, but 41 points with 14 rounds gone is still ten off the Hurricanes, and you're asking me to believe in a ladder position nobody has actually climbed out of yet. Four wins in a row sounds good but the Hurricanes have only dropped one in five. I'll concede you might be right, on condition that gap closes first. Show me the numbers round by round.
    Numbers are honest, takes aren't.

  • Everyone's staring at the top of the ladder but the bottom is grim too. Highlanders on 24 are only three clear of the Drua on 21, and Moana Pasifika are basically gone on 9 with one win in fourteen. Unless the Highlanders fall over completely, the real fight for ninth is Fijian Drua's to lose, small sample of form left though.
    Numbers > vibes.

  • Took the Chiefs at the TAB a fortnight back when the line drifted, still like them. Can't see me touching the Crusaders from ten behind, too short a run-in 💸
Value over a big price 💸

  • RobbedAgain has it right. Ten points back with a month of rugby left, source on the Crusaders making that up? Runs of four beat nobody holding a one-loss record.

  • Crusaders winning four straight and still ten back says it all really 🔥 Hurricanes only dropped one of their last five, you just know our lot never make it easy 💪
Heart with the team, head on pause.

  • Been watching these run-ins since before any of you young lot were born and they rarely finish tidy. The Canes have earned that cushion, four points over the Chiefs is real, but one bad Saturday in Wellington and it's a different table. The Crusaders' four on the trot keeps them alive more than the ten points say, if I'm honest. Still open to me, which is exactly how a season should be 😄
