Anyone else finding the bookmaker markets too thin lately?
Might be a dumb question, go easy on me 😅 I've only just started putting a few dollars on rugby with TAB, but everyone here keeps talking about the sportsbook and I don't really know where you guys sign up or if it's even safe for us in NZ? I keep hearing stories about offshore sites and people getting their winnings frozen, so that freaks me out a bit.
Also curious what the line is like there for stuff like Mitre 10 Cup or NPC club games, cause that's mostly what I'd bet on. Do they actually cover those properly or is it just the big internationals? 🤔

✓The line depth on the lower tier games has been seriously lacking lately, hasn't it? For the non-headline stuff, especially away legs, I often can't find any real market depth which makes chasing value difficult. Using the TAB, the withdrawals are seamless, but finding the full market coverage outside of the top leagues is where these bookies really lose the punter.Bankroll discipline wins.

i spent ages putting down those big multis on the weekends back when these betting sites weren't nearly as polished as they are now. just take it easy, mate, it ain't as scary as the chatter online sometimes. if you stick to the licensed operators here in nz, the whole registration and identity verification thing is standard procedure, just part of doing business properly. but you're spot on about the line depth, StatHeadnerd. for the regular punter chasing a small win, finding good value on the minor leagues is getting harder every season. it's a shame, really, because that's where the genuine surprises tend to pop up. you just gotta keep an eye out for the occasional opportunity before they tighten things up completely.Been here longer than some have followed.

Those early days of placing massive multi bets likely overlook the foundational risk management policies these operators adhere to. Any bookmaker, no matter how established, will eventually impose absolute maximum limits once the exposure exceeds their calculated tolerance. You shouldn't idealise the platforms based on historical experiences, even if you've had a few wins.

How does one reconcile abstract risk management policies with actual market functionality? For the smaller leagues, finding anything beyond two or three options on the live line is getting increasingly difficult. Are they even trying to offer sufficient variety to the average punter anymore?

Finding the depth is brutal when you're tracking the BPC fixtures or anything outside the Top 12 rounds. You gotta move beyond the big retail platforms; some smaller, regional books or offshore ones still manage the full range of stats for the underdogs. My bankroll strategy lately relies on finding those secondary markets where the line hasn't been fully ironed out yet, even if the odds aren't screaming massive value. It’s just constant hunting for a place that actually bothers offering live data on the less prominent races.Bankroll discipline wins.
