Time to raid the NPC for a bruising No.8. Who's your dream signing
Been watching the NPC the last few weeks and every time a big Fijian loose forward rips into a carry I keep thinking, that's exactly the bloke we need at the back of the scrum. Anyway, word is a certain Auckland-based Fijian back-rower could be off-contract once the NPC wraps up. No names from me, you blokes know exactly who I mean 👀 Picture him charging off the base in Suva humidity, defenders just sliding off him.
If the club actually lands him I'm throwing NZ$50 on a cheeky multi for Drua making the finals next season, TAB will have us way too generous 😏 Anyone else heard that whisper or have I been nattering with my punter mates too much? 🤡

✓"Word is" from who exactly? That's the third rumour this season you've floated without a name, a source or a receipt, mate. If he's genuinely off-contract, say who it is and where you read it - otherwise this is just TAB multi talk dressed up as insider info.Numbers are honest, takes aren't.

Doesn't matter which cuzzy it is tbh, we NEED a ball-carrying animal at the back of that scrum 😤 watched a bit of NPC this year and every Fijian loosie over there looked an absolute mountain... imagine one of them charging onto the ball in Suva humidity, defence would just fall over 🔥 get him signed! 💪🙌You don't abandon your own.

Watched a fair chunk of NPC this season with the spreadsheet open 📊 and I'll give you the sober version: a bruising Fijian No.8 based in Auckland, off-contract post-NPC, fits our needs almost perfectly on paper. Age is the wrinkle - if he's mid-to-late twenties, great; approaching thirty with heavy workload metres, you're buying two good seasons at best. Position-wise there's a nuance here: plenty of those NPC loosies are blindside flankers playing out of position at the back of the scrum, and No.8 in Drua's system demands a specific skill set. Lineout-free, heavy defensive reads, scrum control. Small sample though - a handful of NPC highlights versus Super Rugby Pacific minutes is a thin evidence base. I'd want his carries-per-game trend and tackle-miss rate across at least a full season before calling him a mountain. So my honest answer: the rumour is plausible, the need is real, but I'd wait until the contract actually lands before we spend the welcome banner.Numbers > vibes.

😂 RobbedAgain floating "word is" again and everyone's melting down, at least name the bloke, cuzzy. That said, whoever it is, I've watched a fair bit of NPC and those big Fijian loosies over there are exactly what we're missing at the back of the scrum. Get him to Suva humidity and let the poor Australian forwards chase shadows all afternoon 😏Any stat can be bent.

Paul_Fan's got a point though, I'll back the idea on condition someone actually names the bloke. Watched Auckland at Eden Park twice this season, big Fijian loosie there would be keen for Suva.Numbers are honest, takes aren't.

Heh, I've heard this rumour before, lads, same time last year there was "word is" about a Crusaders fringe bloke coming over, and we all got carried away about a month before he re-signed for two more seasons 😄. Seen worse rumours die quietly too. Still, if the Auckland fella really is off-contract, that's exactly the sort of carry-machine we want hitting the line in that Suva steam. Auckland at Eden Park this season, whoever watched him knows the size of him. But names on paper and names in Suva are two different things; I remember when we chased a Wellington loosie and the cheque book lost to the wife's opinion, as the old saying goes. Time will tell, cuzzies - get it signed before someone else does 😉.
