Time to raid the NPC again
Word is doing the rounds that a Chiefs devvie playmaker still hasnt put pen to paper in Hamilton, mate who follows their training closely reckons hes weighing options and nobody's locked anything in. Not naming the lad here because nothing confirmed anyway, but picture his feet alongside Kemu taking line screens off set piece… thats half the answer to why we keep stalling against defenses that load up on us. Would cost sweet as in salary cap terms too, surely better value then some import gamble eh?
If that fell thru id happily watch anyone whos done a full NPC season get thrown a look honestly. Dont care much how fancy their highlights reel is, just wants a bloke whose timing runs the doors opener pass crisply 😏 Who else heard similar whispers round town lately?? 👀🃏

Happy to dream with you all, but a couple of sober checks first. A Chiefs development playmaker would be what, 20-22, unproven at NPC level, Drua signings usually want a ready-made 10 or someone with Super Rugby minutes already banked. I could be wrong, but until there's a name and an actual contract window, I'd file this one under hope rather than probability, even if Kemu outside him is a lovely thought. 📊Do the math before you argue.

Nah FrontRow I hear you but unproven is exactly what we want tho 😤 every big 10 was unproven once, some club took a punt and got repaid tenfold. We've got the pack going forward now, Kemu carving up outside. Give a young hungry playmaker that platform and he'll grow quick or fall quick, either way we'll know 🔥 I coached a lad like that at the juniors last season, kid had zero NPC minutes and ran our whole attack by round three like he'd been there years. Tbh the ready-made 10s cost money we havent got anyway, ah well, nowt to do but back the raid 🙌💪You don't abandon your own.

A mate of a mate in Hamilton is about two steps removed from anything usable, and that's where I like to check the chain before we get carried away. Count what we actually have: no name, no contract status confirmed, no idea whether he's even a first five by trade or a fullback shunted around in training. Depends how you count it, but that's three unknowns stacked on zero sources. That said, SeenItAll has a point I can't fully dismiss. Every decent 10 was a punt somewhere, and our track record raiding the NPC isn't terrible. Small sample though. So my condition is simple: until someone puts a name to this, treat it as a hint worth tracking, nothing more. FrontRow's ready-made argument still matters, a 20-year-old with no Super minutes behind an untested attack line is a lot of hope wearing a jersey. seen a few of these Hamilton whispers over the years, one about a Crusaders young five-eighth a while back had half the thread picking his jersey already and he re-signed within the week 😄 watch as long as I have and you'll get it - rumours travel faster than pen meets paper. time will tell, lads, but i won't hold my breath.Been here longer than some have followed.
