I keep a running file on the Cup playmakers and I'll say this: the under-NZ$200k bit is the part I struggle with. Every Fijian-eligible first five in Auckland with real game time is on a provincial contract plus Super cover, and the good ones have agents who know exactly what offshore offers look like. If someone's genuinely coming home at that number, he's either young and unproven, or there's a top-up structure we're not seeing. Sample size caveat on the rumour mill though, one nameless playmaker, one figure, zero sourcing. That's a two-data-point story, and I don't project off two data points. Hater318 is right that it describes half the Mitre 10 Cup. My honest read: age and position logic works (a 24-26 year old wanting game time before the Drua window closes makes sense), the wage doesn't. I'll believe it when I see a name attached, and even then I'd want to check his minutes-per-80 across the last two seasons before dreaming. Show me the tape and the paperwork, brothers. 📊

FixIsIn, watch as long as I have and you'll learn that agents talk big right up until a bloke wants to go home. I've seen plenty of these boys take less than the agents were shopping for, because Churchill Park on a Friday night with the whole village there beats sitting on a bench in Auckland for a few extra grand. Money isn't everything to a Fijian lad, whatever the Cup file says 😄 And for the sceptics wanting a name and a source, that's how it always starts, half the good signings I've seen came through exactly this kind of shed rumour first. Seen worse rumours come true, trust me. Under NZ$200k? If the province is still holding his registration and the Drua offer him proper game time, it's doable. I'd happily lose my NZ$50 wager to be wrong the right way 😉Been here longer than some have followed.

Funny how every Auckland club game I wander past seems to have a scout with a Fijian accent in the stands these days 😏 Underwood's right though, the moeny talk goes out the window the second a bloke gets to run out in front of his own village. Whoever this playmaker is, someone's already had a quiet chat over a few grog, mark it down 🤡Any stat can be bent.
