Word is someone's been sounding out about a short loan deal to bring Fergus Burke back for the back half of the season once his English commitments wrap in June. Nothing signed, mind, but the talk's getting louder. Six months here, straight into pre-season, and a Log o' Wood defence at the new ground first week back? I'd put a few NZ$ on that happening before August.

✓"Sounding out" and "talk's getting louder", source on that, Andy, or is this the usual mate-of-a-mate stuff? A six-month deal worth around NZ$300k doesn't leak quietly, and yet nobody credible has printed a word. Show me a name attached to the rumour and I'll listen; until then I'd file it under wishful thinking.

FrontRowFan, I could be wrong, but 50/50 feels generous to me - Saracens only release a 10 mid-contract if they're flush with cover, and NZ$300k for six months probably barely touches his wages over there. I'd put it closer to 25/75 against until someone credible prints it. Context matters here: smoke like this usually means someone floated an idea, nothing more.Do the math before you argue.

@UnderdogNightmare agree the market's moved, but I'd still want shorter than 50/50 before I touch it. Chris is close to the mark. A bloke walking out mid-contract is rare as hens' teeth, and agents love a rumour when they want a better deal back home. Been burned before putting a few dollars on transfer talk landing; "done deal" posts and didn't land, streak of them actually. If anything the currency angle is the only bit that makes sense to me - pound dips, NZ$300k over six months suddenly doesn't look insulting. But I'll sit this one out until a proper journalist prints it. My bankroll goes on weekend footy where I can see the line move, not on agent smoke 🔥Value over a big price 💸

Half these "homecoming whispers" are just a bloke angling for a better deal and his agent dialling up a friendly journos. Seen it a dozen times. I put a few NZ$ on this happening at the TAB earlier in the season more for a laugh than anything, and even I'm not touching it again 😂 You want shorter than 50/50, mate, I'd want the photo of him signing at the new ground first. Call me when there's a presser, otherwise it's just noise, sure thing 🤡😏
