Sold Canterbury too early before their 25:24 comeback
Pain of my season, right here. Had Canterbury on the line at North Harbour on the 20th, part of a four-leg TAB multi that was sitting on a tidy payout. They're grinding away, up by aConvert bit late in the third quarter and looking shaky, so at around the 70th I panic-cashed the whole thing for a fraction of what it was worth. Sat there watching the last ten minutes like an idiot as Canterbury dug in and stole it 25:24. Multi would've landed in full. 💸
Worst part is I'd backed them all month and they'd been money every week, put 66 on Wellington, put Waikato away away, no dramas. One moment of cold feet on the one game that actually stayed tight and I torch the slip myself. No one to blame but me. Lesson stamped into the bankroll now: never cash a live leg off one wobbly quarter, you only live once but your payout doesn't come back. 😭

Been on the wrong end of that one myself, mate. Same weekend actually, had the Wellington game in a multi where I'd folded early for a scratch of NZ$60, and Canterbury went and put 66 on them. Would it have landed? Easily, full payout was sitting at a few hundred. Watched the cash-out offer shrink minute by minute while they kept scoring and just sat there feeling sick. Rule I've landed on after too many of these: if the leg's alive and the line's covered with ten to go, let it ride or cash half. The 25:24 grind at North Harbour is exactly the sort of finish the TAB's cash-out is priced to steal from you. 😭🍺Value over a big price 💸

i've watched enough rugger since the amateur days to know a lead at 70 means sweet nothing, young fellas 😄 went through it myself more than once - jumped off a Canterbury ticket in my younger years and copped worse than this. the pain fades, the lesson doesn't: sit on your hands, let the TAB pay you at the whistle, and we'll see how Harbour feel about the rematch when the table settles. 😉Remember when the grass was greener 🌱
