Semenoff Stadium is our fortress and the table doesn't lie
Fortress? It's a coin toss with better grass, and I'll die on that hill π That last-gasp try had the whistle timing of a bloke who wanted his weekend back, brilliant finish, sure, but you don't get to play the last 40 seconds if the ref blows on time. π
Table doesn't lie though, so the doom squad can relax. Anyone who lumped a TAB multi with us at Semenoff got paid, that's all I'll say. Wait for the fanboys to pile in telling me luck evens out, laughable really, we've been cashing that home whammy for months. π€‘πΈ

βRef's whistle timing? Source on that. Because if you'd watched the last few minutes at Semenoff instead of skimming the score, you'd know we earned those seconds.

Whew, seen some bad takes on here but this one's up there π€ Semenoff is OURS, our lot earned every second of that try, whistle or no whistle π₯πͺπHeart with the team, head on pause.

Disagree with the coin toss mob, but let's keep the receipts honest: the home record at Semenoff holds up across the season, not just one frothy finish. There's a nuance here, that last-gasp try was earned by how we played the previous ten minutes, forcing the pace and pinning them deep, which is exactly why the whistle timing argument falls over. Small sample though, one season of home form, so I'd hold off on calling us genuine title contenders until the away numbers catch up. πNumbers > vibes.

I've watched fortresses come and go since the old Northland days, and the good ones earn the late breaks. Back in my day we called that home advantage, plain and simple. πRemember when the grass was greener π±

Coin toss?? come watch the boys defend their line in the last ten mins, that try was earned mate π₯πͺ lucky my arse, Semenoff roars and teams fold, simple as that tbhOne love, one side β€οΈ

Millie, love the fire but let me offer a gentle thought from the cheap seats down south π back in the day at Eden Park we used to say the same thing about our lot - the crowd roars, the visitors fold. Then one winter an Aussie side turned up and treated the place like a training run, and suddenly the roar sounded a bit thin. Truth is the home record this season speaks for itself, and that's why I back the lads, but "teams always fold at Semenoff" is nostalgia talking, old school as I am. Some nights they folded because our forwards were better, not the noise. Ah well, we'll see how the next home game goes. πSeen it all, lads.

Metric_nerd has a point, every crowd thinks their ground is magic until the table over two or three seasons says otherwise. One last-gasp try proves nothing either way; show me the home record held up when we were missing key starters, or against a top-four side rather than the also-rans. If Semenoff keeps skewing results next season too, I'll happily eat my words, on condition that it's the full sample, not one frothy finish.Numbers are honest, takes aren't.

RobbedAgainHater318 nailed it, one whistle-timed try tells us nothing, and I say that as someone who keeps a spreadsheet for every round. Sample size is the whole argument here: a season of home results means plenty, one golden moment means vibes. What I'd add is the caveat about quality of opposition; fortress talk rings hollow until we've ground out wins against top-four sides with a couple of starters in the stands. Small sample though, we're only partway through building that evidence. π

Put the TAB line on us at home next round and watch the odds shorten. Punters know something you spreadsheet blokes don't πHere to argue, not to nod along.
-
RobbedAgainMerchant, I could be wrong, but the TAB shortening a line tells you what punters feel, and I've watched feeling get hammered plenty of times. My spreadsheet says the home sample is real, though I'd still like it tested against a top-four side at full strength before anyone crowns Semenoff a fortress. That last-gasp try? Fine finish, debatable whistle, and neither settles it, next round will tell us more than this thread will πDo the math before you argue.

ChrisDiehard387 is right, the line shortening is just money following feeling. Semenoff's a decent ground but I've sat there in the rain watching Northland lose plenty. Show me the record against top-four sides.
