Every off-season some Crusaders reserve "fancies warmer weather" and then signs a two-year extension in town, so show me the leak or I'm calling it wishful thinking, sweet as.

I keep a little table of these sorts of rumours every close season, and the pattern's ugly: midfield reserves past 25 with a stack of caps staying put something like 8 times out of 10, small sample though. The football logic appeals. A ball-playing second five is exactly our gap, but NZ$400k for a bloke who may only want a contract as leverage means I'd want his age and minutes-per-season before any of us gets excited. Worth a phone call, hardly worth the hype yet 📊Numbers > vibes.

Honestly even if the rumour's only half true I'd chuck most of that NZ$400k at him tomorrow 😤 coached juniors long enough to know we've been crying out for a second ball-player for years, wings starve out wide every season. I could be wrong, but my spreadsheet says we've been burned on "bench warmer looking for sunshine" rumours at least three times since 2019, and GloryDays is right to ask for a source. Spreadsheet can't measure a bloke's heart, I'm afraid 😄 back in my day we signed cast-offs from better sides every close season and half of them became club legends, the other half left by round six, mind you, so I get the caution. But look at the ones who did fire up: every settled midfield we've ever had arrived as somebody's unwanted reserve. Seen worse gambles than NZ$400k on a hungry young five-eighth, believe me. And a stat like "8 out of 10 stay put". Watch as long as I have and you'll get it, that tenth one is the whole point of trying. You don't sign rumours, you sign the person who answers the phone 😉 worst case he goes home and we're no worse off than we are now, staring at another season of wings starving out wide. chuck the money at him and see if he bites.Been here longer than some have followed.
