FINALLY, Friday night in Invercargill and I've already blocked the evening off 🔥 the Counties game still stings me tbh, home game at Semenoff and we let them sneak it 22-19 a week after putting 52 on Wellington. WHICH Northland shows up down south, that's the whole question ah well, nowt to do but wait and see 😤💪

Lost count of how many times I've driven a fare home from a Friday night muttering about a bet that didn't land 😭 Anyway. They'll be at home in Whangarei form mentally but the away record says otherwise, that 42:57 at North Harbour still sits ugly in the file. The line's likely to open around Southland -4 to -6 and honestly I'd rather take Northland +6 than back them off memory of Wellington. Stacks of value in Northland +15.5 overs/unders territory too if the margin band stuff matters to you, I put NZ$20 on the +6 last time this fixture swung and it saved my weekend 🍺Bankroll discipline wins.

The Harbour trip is the one I keep coming back to, StatHead - 57 points conceded away, that was hard watching. Seen worse teams bounce back though, ah well, we'll see 😄Seen it all, lads.

Metric_nerd's right about Harbour being hard watching, but I'd add a caveat: this mob have shown twice this season they can bounce back from an away hiding. Watch as long as I have and you'll get it, consistency was never the cheap part of any Northland side I've followed. Back in my day we used to bus down to Invercargill for the old union trips, and Rugby Park on a cold Friday night was never a place you strolled into confident. The Wellington performance is real, the Counties one stings, and truth told I reckon which team turns up depends entirely on the first twenty minutes down there. Seen worse sides settle into a southern night and grow into it. I'm cautiously keen, anyway, kettle on, heater on, she'll be right 😉Been here longer than some have followed.

BadBeatAndy's got a point about the yo-yo, but he's judging a half-season team like they're a finished article. That away form has always been the hard part up here, back in my day we'd leave Whangarei with the expectancy on us and fold just the same, so I've learned patience with these boys. Five days on the roadies for me down to Invercargill and I'll tell you what settles it: which front row gets off the bus angry. If they turn up like they did against Waikato, Southland will know about it by halftime. If the Harbour lot show up, someone pour me a rum before the 57th minute 😄Watch as long as I have and you'll get it.

Away form was always the bogey up here, and the young lot never saw how bad some of those south trips got back in my day 😄 my caveat though: at least this mob bounce, harbour was grim but they answered with 52 on Wellington, which more northland sides i've watched couldn't manage. friday down in invercargill will tell us plenty, i'll be warm at home with a cuppa watching.Remember when the grass was greener 🌱

I remember driving a load down to Invercargill years back for a south trip, froze half the night and watched us get rolled all the same, that drive south has humbled better sides than this lot.
