Look, we smashed Wellington 52-28 then coughed up a 22-19 lead at Semenoff the very next week, so who even knows which lot rocks up 😱 But that's us, our team never make it easy. If the boys from the Wellington game front up, Southland are in for a long arvo. Backing them all day either way, through thick and thin 💪 Who's making the trek down? ah well, nowt to do but count the days 🙌

If it's the 52-28 mob, Whangarei fans should be confident. If it's the 19-22 one? Had a tenner on Northland -6.5 in the Counties game, watched that lead evaporate and the line "did not land" 😭 When a side swings 52-28 to losing at home inside seven days, I'm off the handicap entirely. Leaning Southland at home for small money, value over a big price, but I'd want 2.50+ before the bankroll leaves the pocket. 🍺The line moves — catch it.

Back in the day every side had that streak in them, the difference was you only heard about it from mates at the pub, now it's all over the thread by Monday morning. Katie, I'd be wary of writing the line off after one bad beat, seen worse swings than a 52-28 followed by a coughed-up lead, though the Harbour 57 is the number that keeps me honest on RobbedAgainMerchant's point. Metric_nerd's right that both Northlands are real, seen worse swings than this over the years, believe me. I'd just add that a young side bouncing from a 52-point party down to a gut-punch at home is where the old heads earn their keep, and back in my day the trip south always sorted the men from the boys. If they front up mentally in Invercargill, the rest takes care of itself 😄Watch as long as I have and you'll get it.

Been trucking through Whangarei since before some of you lot were born, and I'll tell you, Northland's always had that way of breaking your heart one week and making the trip south feel sweet as the next. Back in the day we'd drive down to Invercargill full of hope and come home quiet, other times we'd turn up written off and give them a rattle. That Counties loss stung, but watch as long as I have and you'll get it: expectations deceive more often than the scoreboard does. October 2?
