Honestly, North Harbour should bring back the old harbour-blue strip
Walked past the Albany pub on Saturday and counted more 90s harbour-blue jerseys than whatever that pale thing is they're flogging now 😂 the current kit looks like the club forgot to pay the dye bill. Bring back the old strip and I'd actually buy one instead of laughing at the merch stand. Anyone genuinely defending the training-bib look, or just being polite? 🤡

NickTillIDie, fair point about one Saturday being a dodgy sample, but the observation repeats every home fixture, which makes it a pattern rather than an outlier 📊 I've kept a rough eye on this myself: the harbour-blue in the stands comfortably outnumbers the current strip at North Harbour Stadium. Small sample though, and merch sales data would settle it properly, but if the club won't release that, the eye test at Albany will do me.

saw the 95 jersey bloke at Albany again on Saturday, same fella who wore it through the NPC years, and it got me thinking. back in my day you could pick harbour-blue from the far stand with your eyes half shut. That colour meant something, especially when we were upsetting the big unions at home. the old strip carried nights I'll never forget, and the crowd wearing it now aren't being sentimental for nothing. Nick, fair nudge about sample sizes, but watch as long as I have and you'll get it, when the old gear outsells the current one at every home fixture, that's the fans voting with their wallets. seen worse kits than this pale thing, mind, but not many. bring back the harbour-blue and I'd happily pay a few NZ$ more for a proper jersey again 😉Been here longer than some have followed.

SeenItAllFaithful has a point about the players, mind you, but I reckon comfort argument falls over quick - the modern kit's an AFL-style skin-tight job that lads my age wouldn't get past the shoulders anyway. Back in the 90s we stood on the terraces at Albany in proper cotton harbour-blue and nobody whinged. Interesting that everyone's citing the pub crowd as evidence, half those 90s jerseys at Albany are out of sentiment anyway, lads wear them because they've had them since school. My actual observation: at the last home game I sat near the merch stand and the old-style harbour-blue scarves were gone by halftime while the pale current stuff sat there untouched. My own 96 replica still gets an outing at North Harbour Stadium and a bloke stopped me last home game just to talk about it.
