From Waikato mud to two straight titles
i remember those friday nights at waikato stadium like they were yesterday, mud up to your ankles, a pie in one hand and the rails rattling when sonny bill flicked another miracle pass 😄 back in the day you froze for your rugby but 2012-13 was worth every shiver. proudest thing? watching the whole of hamilton go red and yellow like it was a festival. two straight titles, and us old fellas got to say we were there 😉

Hard to top those 2012-13 nights, the rails rattling and Sonny Bill flicking passes out of nowhere 😄 This current side is a different beast though, younger and still learning how to close out tight ones the way Brodie's mob did. I'd back them to grow into something similar if the pack keeps fronting up. Chur to everyone who froze at Waikato back then 📊Numbers > vibes.

my favourite bit nobody talks about: the train back to Auckland after the 2012 final, whole carriage of Chiefs fans singing rubbish songs and an old Crusader bloke joining in by Hamilton 😄 that's when it hit me what the boys had done for a whole region. and VeteranSinceKid is onto something - that semi in the wet was old school forwards rugby, exactly how it used to be before the game got all pretty. this young mob don't need to copy Brodie's lot, they'll find their own way. seen worse sides learn quicker than this bunch, trust me 😉Watch as long as I have and you'll get it.
