From the Brindy days to Mortlock's moonshot
i was never at that 2004 final mind you. Watched it on the telly down here with a heat pump fighting a losing battle, but stirl mortlock kicking everything in that cold still gives me chills the good kind. fell for the brumbies back in the brindy days when they played with a bit of cheek no one else had. funny how a club from another country grabs you, ah well, we'll see 😄

Watching that 2004 side on the telly as a kid, what strikes me now is how they just closed games out. Mortlock lining one up and you knew, absolutely knew, it was going over. The current mob have more running flair and I do enjoy watching them, but they haven't quite earned that same "game's done" feel yet. Different eras though, and this lot are young; give them a few winters.

Word going round from a bloke I taped ankles for years back is that some of that 2004 drill routine still gets run at Brumbies training, unstirred 😏 Whether that's true or just pub talk, who knows. But yeah Mortlock lining one up felt like a formality didn't it. Screenshot this if it ages well 🤫Those who know, know.
