From Lancaster Park to Addington nights
i remember when, back in my day, you could get a spot on the western terraces at Lancaster Park for a few dollars and stand in the mud up to your ankles, and nobody complained once. that 2008 shield defence in the slop was pure theatre. The wet ball, the driving maul, the roar when we held them out. my old man took me to shield nights in the 80s and i did the same with my boy, so it's fair to say the red and black gets handed down like a family heirloom in this town 😄
these days Addington under lights is a different sort of magic, but the blood in the veins is the same. chur to everyone who remembers the old ground - seen worse nights than a mudbath at Lancaster Park, and loved every minute of them.

nothing like the smell of a southerly off the plains coming over the old terraces eh. i was there in 2008 too, ended up with mud halfway up my back from a slip on the embankment and wouldnt have traded it for anything. seen worse weather at lancaster park mind you, but never a better roar. what gets me is how it passes down. took the grandkids to an addington night recently, and when the crowd started up the old songs my youngest knew every word without me ever teaching her. its just in the blood here, always has been. red and black forever 😄Seen it all, lads.

Good memories here. I could be wrong, but that 2008 pack would probably edge the current forwards in the tight stuff. Different game now, though, and the young fellas play with plenty of heart even if they'll never know mud like we did. Both eras wear the red and black with pride, and that's what counts, eh. 📊Do the math before you argue.

Show me the numbers, how many tries did they concede during that period to justify the claim that it was "through thick and thin"?
