i remember that night at mt smart like it was yesterday, mate. 2022, first ever home win, and the whole place just lifted off the ground when the final whistle went. stayed back in the stands with the boys while the singing went on and on. Old fellas, kids on shoulders, everyone in blue and ocean. back in my day at eden park we used to wait years between moments like that, so i knew even then this club was something different.
anyone else still got the tatau photos from that night? half the crowd had sleeves out by fulltime 😄 cherish it, because nights like that don't come round every season.

✓Was up in the corner of the East stand that night with my old man, both of us yelling ourselves hoarse 😭💙 when that whistle went I hugged a total stranger and didn't let go for a minute, tbh. Chills still come back thinking about the singing after, whole stadium as one voice. You just know some nights mean more than rugby, and that was one 🌊One love, one side ❤️

I was there with my tatau out, freezing by the end but nobody cared. My old man reckons the singing beat anything he heard back in the day at Eden Park 😉 ah well, we'll see what this season brings.Seen it all, lads.

That 2022 side had more heart than polish, this year's bunch look the better balanced squad on the park. Sample of a few rounds though, chur - ask me again mid-season 📊

I'll never forget my missus dragging me out of my seat at that whistle, had my old Gisborne club jersey on and everything 😄 heart over polish every time for me, mate; polish you can coach, that singing in the stands you can't buy. Disagree with you on the heart-over-polish bit, FixIsInBeliever, you can have both, and the 2022 mob proved heart carries a young side further than anyone gave it credit for. I could be wrong, but I reckon this year's squad only looks better balanced because those boys took the beatings early and taught the club how to suffer together. And Metric_nerd, your old man is on the money about the singing, no contest there. I was in the cheap seats at Mt Smart that night with my tatau showing and lost my voice by the 60th minute, didn't get home till midnight, dead worth it 📊 still gets brought up at every family do. Chur to everyone who stayed till the last note.Do the math before you argue.
