Heard something juicy from a mate who does work around the Blues, but I'll keep it hush-hush for now 😏
You know how we've all been moaning about our first five situation for seasons? Apparently one of their backup playmakers, the kind who's been stuck behind a superstar getting all the reps, might be keen for a fresh start where he'd actually start every week. And supposedly North Harbour Stadium came up in conversation.
Imagine that bloke pulling the strings with some genuine pace outside him. Might even put a cheeky NZ$20 on us making serious noise in the ITM Cup if it lands. Who's our dream wing to feed off him then?

Nah RobReds let the bloke have his rumour, it's off-season fun 😄 but imagine it though, proper game-manager with something to prove, we've been crying out for a ten who can actually control a match since forever. Give him the keys and our wings feast, simple as. Sign me up 🤞Heart with the team, head on pause.

Before we all get carried away, look at the practical side: a Blues backup ten is on a Super contract, and provinces get whatever's left after the franchise picks its squad. ITM Cup game time is exactly what the Blues would want for him though, so there's a real logic to the whisper. Age-wise it works if he's mid-twenties and hungry, but I'd want a name attached before I believe a word of it. 📊Numbers > vibes.

I'll believe it when the NPC squad sheet says so, but BadBeat's logic is sound, a Blues backup ten needs minutes and we're the obvious landing spot. My caveat: one decent pre-season trial before I hand him the keys, we've been burned by hyped signings before. Signed a Bunnings NPC membership for the first time last year, so I'd happily stump up the NZ$ again if this actually lands.Numbers are honest, takes aren't.
